Hmm there is nothing wrong with keyboards...if they don't sound so cheesy :/

The cheese is all part of the charm! They are a love/hate band for sure.

Try listening to the Caladan Brood record above. Definitely one of my favorite records this year.

Already did that :)
I like them a lot more than Summoning.

If anybody wants to know where this band got its name from:
http://www.stevenerikson.com/
The name and all the lyrics are based on Steven Eriksons godly fantasy series The Malazan Book Of The Fallen.

My favourite fantasy series of all time ♥

If other bands would use such cheap-sounding keyboard noises, they would get schiit on like there is no tomorrow.

And the songwriting is just really boring IMO.

(just to make it clear, I'm not one of these "metal has to be fast, polyrythmic etc" persons. I really like stuff like this for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgyVSYE1ZzY)

It's not really my genre, the fact that it's a style a don't listen to makes it fresh. True it's a little bit like black metal with drum machines and Casio keyboards. But if done well it can come across ok.

It is just well done that's all. At times that's all it takes. Not my genre really so I'm no expert here.

Black Metal has always been about atmosphere and mood. So I think it can be created all kinds of ways. None are right or wrong. It's not true BM and comes across like some European Lord Of The Rings soundtrack, who cares?

Siberian Meat Grinder - Russian Crossover/Hardcore. Not bad. Has members of What We Feel and Moscow Death Brigade.
They will be playing in my city in September. :-D

The first part sounds like they loaded up some drum samples and had a guy roll around on top of the keyboard.

Gorguts playing "Obscura" with their new line-up. ******* amazing. It's quite an old video, but great nonetheless.
