Okay, the current mastermind :|
This Kerr dude.

Btw. I wrote them an email just to ask if the could put up a "just by the digital version"-option on their bandcamp site.

Would anyone be interested in a copy of Septic Flesh's Mystic Places of Dawn on ltd colored vinyl, I got my spare copy in the mail the other day. Its still sealed and everything.

It still bums me out that more people haven't talked about the new Amon Amarth record, Deceiver of the Gods is one of my favorite cds of the year so far!

Soups:

Any chance you could donate it to the Metal-Fi cause as a give away? We can have some fun with it.

Seems to be getting some unfavorable press.

After all, they have been releasing the same album for years now :|
That doesn't have to be a bad thing though.

Well recorded, well produced, technically masterful....and boring as hell

If it was my first Amon Amarth I'd be blown away, but 7 albums later for me and its just meh

Are you both referring to Deceiver of the Gods? Cause it's only the second Amon Amarth CD I've ever liked, it and With Oden on Our Side are it. They both sound quite a bit different then the rest of their cds, being quite a bit thrashier. I've always thought I started with the wrong Amon Amarth CD since WOoOS was my first and it was so much different than the rest. But I was super happy when I found out how good Deceiver of the Gods is.

And bad press? Angry Metal Guy gave it an awesome review and it was his cd of the month over Everblack

If I thought it was great, I'd probably be check it out. Given the mediocre reception I've read, I kind of feel the same way about Dark Tranquility. I love both those bands. But, like the last poster said, if you've got 7 Amon Amarth, this one needs to be REALLY good. I felt the same way about the last Enslaved...waited for a while....but, I'm glad I picked that one up.....

Exactly. Wasn't really anything new, and not their best work either. By this point in your career you really need to start changing things up...

For me it really was the first Amon Amarth album that I really liked. There is also a song or two which has parts reminding me of Judas Priest. Being that this is kinda the farewell year for Priest I though maybe they were paying tribute?

Listening to the new Dew-Scented comp album. The album is nothing spectacular but not that bad either.

Listening to the new Mumakil
Listening to the Greek Rotting Christ sister band's 2013 release. They are called Thou Art Lord. A little more ruff and classical sounding than Rotting Christ's 2013 release.

Couldn't really get into the new Wormed album Exodromos.
Listening to Monolith Deathcults new one Tetragrammation
On the BM side we now have Peste Norie's self titled release Peste Norie's.......crap.
And the new Nihilistinen Barbaaristuus release of an EP called Vainamoinen

On a non metal note, Weapon is the new Skinny Puppy album. Great

My replay albums of the year are Suffocation as well as Immolations new ones.

Aborym's new experimental release "Dirty" is maybe now my second favorite Aborym release next to the classic Generator which ends up being the definitive Aborym album IMO.

You have to admire the new Summoning being the greatest of that genre this year.

I don't want to sound offensive or something like this but....what is so great about this album/band?
If other bands would use such cheap-sounding keyboard noises, they would get schiit on like there is no tomorrow.
And the songwriting is just really boring IMO.
(just to make it clear, I'm not one of these "metal has to be fast, polyrythmic etc" persons. I really like stuff like this for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgyVSYE1ZzY)

I love Summoning but its not for everyone, especially if you don't like keyboards.
