Schematic for the STAX SRD-7/Pro or 7/Mk2 ?

Is there a schematic for the STAX SRD-7/Pro or 7/Mk2 available anywhere should someone want to build the unit or perhaps a comparable design that can be legally used?

Thank you. Any mods recommended?

You're most welcome!

Besides bypassing the speaker/'phone switch, to get the most direct connection, I am not aware of any mods.

Anyone know what z101 and z1100 are? and what are good modern replacements for zl 01 - 04 and d 01 - d06. also what does nl denote is this a rectifier?

Thanks

Just replace them with two 100v zener diodes, wired back to back. They are there to lower the input voltage down to 100v so that the unit can be used anywhere in the world.

Thanks Spritzer.

I was reading a post quite a while back where you had given someone a schematic for a pro bias designed by Dr Gilmore. Unfortunately the link to the picture you used is dead. I Quite lke the idea of stick a pro bias in an srd4 for kick and giggles plus i want to upgrade my srm1 dual normal bias to pro normal do you still have the pic or a link to it?

I've also been looking at different ways of creating the pro bias. The three common ways i've found are via the blue hawaii power design, the andre cuifolli energizer design and that used in the srd7. Anyone know which is the better design? The only noticable difference i've found is that the Gilmore design is a lot simpler and atains fully running bias voltage more quickly - that is according to the online java electronics bench i was playing with. By the looks of it the gilmore design could be the easiest to implement as the are less parts and takes a 330v ac feed off the transformer although i'm not sure what voltages would be available on the srm1 trafo.

Thanks.

That design uses the same bias supply as the Gilmore amps so just use that one. Also remember that it is just an adjustable voltage doubler so it will only go as high as twice the input voltage.

thanks Spritzer, i may have to do something fancier but i was hoping to just run a connection off the trafo or the board in the srm to get what i need i'll test to see what i can see on the board.

You should find 200v+ in the SRM-1 but you might need to add a stage to the Gilmore multiplier so that it triples the voltage. It will still be adjustable though.

Any chance of reupload of the amplifier it self?

Amplifier? We are talking about transformers here...
Yes but at the top of the page only the schematic of a powersupply is shown. Where is the schematic of the amplifier?

Thats the schematic for the energizer, including its bias supply.
There are no corresponding amplifier, as you use whatever speaker amplifier you have handy to run it.

OH BLODDY HELL. My fault. 'Sorry. Im in the process of building an amplifier inspired of Audio Research however im still interested in seing how Stax is doing it.
