I haven't heard anybody else that ordered from there in the US paying import duty. I guess we shall see! I have ordered from Audio Cubes before and had stuff shipped from Japan with no import duty. Hope the price stays the same, but reading how good the IE8 sounds, I am sure it is worth it

I see IE8 for $300 (after conversion) on Advanced MP Players site (but out of stock), not including shipping to the U.S. Image X10 is $211 on Amazon, as noted. So the difference is nearly $100 before shipping. Not sure what AMP3 charges to ship to the U.S., but it can't be cheap. So there is a pretty big price difference. Many Head-Fi'ers with X10s got them at that half-price sale of $175 from Klipsch, a major steal. Wonder if Klipsch will repeat that offer any time soon. Amy?

The original question was X10 vs. M5, which both are around $200 (or a little less when it comes to the Atrio). So adding the IE8 to the mix changes things a bit.

but for IEM, I will take Image x10 anytime, it is one of the best bass I have heard, I will put it on par with SE530 in terms of bass...the overall sound quality is also one of the best earphones...right now I am using and westone 3, yeah it is better than Image x10 in terms of SQ, but just slightly I would put it that way...
Actually my original IEM battle was between a Image x10 and Se530, I finally picked up X10, not because of the price difference...the X10 is just so small and comfort with big sound...I will put it in the same league with the high end IEMs such as W3 IE8 SE530 Trifi etc...

Anyways, I will highly recommend Image x10~
X2. I have W3s as well, but I still love the X10 comfort to SQ balance.

The price listed is reduced as the VAT tax (or whatever it is called) is added, and if they are shipped out of England, that is removed. Mine were £164 with shipping, which per my credit card company the charge was $235! (Shipping is £15, and I used the discount coupon "listenlive" for 20% off.)

Sub-Total: £186.37
World Airmail (5 - 12 day insured airmail delivery): £14.99
Discount Coupons:listenlive: -£37.27
Total: £164.09

Great price then. About the max I would pay for any IEM (I admit I paid $260 for W3s, but my wife got them for me for Xmas). Would love to hear the IE8s some day, but not gonna spring for them at this point.

I purchased a set of X10's and received on Thursday but I cannot get a good seal, especially in my right ear, which the tips seems too small. I have tried all sizes of included tips and prodded them as far as I could and there is no depth or decent sound. I can feel the difference of pressure in each ear and there isn't nearly as much in my right ear. The sound is just mediocre to me.

Do you guys know whether there is any way I can return these as I am not satisfied, or will I have to sell them now they have been opened? I couldn't demo the earphones before as there was no shop near me selling these, I ordered direct from Klipsch UK.

Secondly I do like my bass, which I could not hear in the X10's (coming from CX300's), would you suggest gong with SF.5EB's or M5's once I return or sell the X10's?

I was thinking of UM2's but was worried that the bass might not be as pronounced as the first two mentioned, especially as the X10's to me were disappointing (even in just my left ear the bass was not what I was expecting).

I am not an audiophile, and basically just want an upgrade to the CX300's but without the muddy sound.

Cheers

lol, seems like everyone exuberantly praises the headphone they own without having ever tried the other.

As a new M5 owner myself, I can easily recommend them. Do some searching around; you'll find great reception.

there is definitely a seal problem my friend, otherwise there's no way you couldn't hear the amazing bass...I'm sure you can probably return it since you just bought it.

maybe try some non-klipsch tips? i also went from cx300-->x10 and have been shocked by the richness of bass coming from those tiny x10s. fit is key...

Not sure who you are referring to. I owned the Atrios AND (still own) the X10s, and sold the M5s a long time ago (for the Sleek SA6, in fact). The X10s, if you get a good fit, are an amazing IEM based on the combo of SQ, size and comfort. The M5s also have their good points, of course (mostly their deep bass and non-fatiguing mids/highs).

Did you own the X10s? If not, you are making a recommendation without having heard both. Which is what you are criticizing others for doing, no? If you have or have owned the X10s, then your suggestion has validity. You don't say that you owned the Klipsch phones.

As for the poster who can't get a good fit with the X10s, before you try the foamies, you could be inserting the gels too deeply, so the seal is not working. Klipsch says in its documentation to insert the X10s as deeply as comfortable, but to try pulling them out slightly to create a proper seal. That can work, in fact. I use the larger bi-flanges, and like the poster, my ear canals are different sizes (the right being smaller). But no problems. If that doesn't work, many have had success using Comply or olive foamies with Klipsch phones. Also, make sure the Klipsch gels are positioned right for your ear canal. They are not round, they are oval. So they can be turned on the sound tube to fit an ear canal, which is part of the original design intent by Klipsch.

My statement wasn't specifically directed at anyone. But what I was inferring is not at all uncommon on this forum.

You really must take opinions here with a huge grain of (subjective) salt.
