Looking for a USB transport to convert the signal out of my laptop to optical or S/PDIF to feed my DAC. HagUSB, PopPulse PC Link II Professional Transport, or Blue Circle USB Thingee, or Trends UD-10/10.1 would be ideal

why not something simple and inexpensive like this:

Newegg.com - Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro Virtual 5.1 Surround Channels USB Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards

its bit perfect, has opto out and works great with all os's.

no need to overspend if you only need spdif from usb!
