My dad's home phone's screen went(a panasonic) so we're in the market for a new one.

We want 2-3 hansets(the base+phone + 2 phones) and we have about $90 to work with. We need speakerphones and backlit keypads. We can buy on ebay or amazon.

What's our best bet?

Vtech has worked very well for me. I've used a base with 3 extension phones for 7 years and Have had no problems except for replacing batteries, and that just once.

Panasonic DECT 6.0 since it operates in a band where nothing else does
batteries last a long time and you can add several handsets.

I bought $40 Vtech phone when my rather expensive panasonic phone got bricked, about 3 years ago.

Two things I don't like about that particular vtech phone are, 1. it does not have mute button, and 2. there is no way to eliminate that beep sound when pressing the buttons. Other than those two, the phone is alright so far.

I bought the Panasonic DECT 6.0 and really like it. It is small and has a small answering machine in the bass. it is very clear sounding and can have several sat. phones.

Staples has the Panasonic DECT 6.0 with three handsets for $99.99 right now. Paid more for mine last week damn it but ya gotta love the features. Set mine up Saturday and I'm still playing with it, calling people I haven't spoken to in eons including my former partner who now thinks she's Mary Magdalene.
