The MMA thread (Affliction, UFC, DREAM, Strikeforce, etc.) - Page 28

I believe he had a major surgery and still has 6months leave or something, we'll see how well he comes back.

In the mean time we've got a few good fights coming up :

UFC 151 -         Jones Vs. Henderson

UFC 152 - Benavidez Vs. Johnson

                       Stann Vs. Bisping

UFC UK -         Hardy Vs. Sadollah

UFC  MN -       Browne Vs. Silva

UFC 153 (awesome card!) -  Aldo Vs. Koch

                                         Vitor Vs. Belcher

                                         Jackson Vs. Tiexeira

After the Jones-Hendo fight IMO It's going to be pretty stale until UFC 153. Hopefully 'TUF - The Smashes' will fill the gap nicely!

Hoping it's not going to end up a tear-fest though *cough* TUF Brazil * cough*

lol - that UFC 153 does look like a good one.

UFC 151 Canceled - Henderson is hurt frown.gif

I am glad Dana White canceled rather than throwing a scrub against Jones. Good for him for taking a financial hit and not trying to shove it through anyway.

thats now how it went down. jon jones was the reason the fight got canceled.

He did the right thing. Good to know Chael Sonnen failed to talk his way to a big payday. I would rather watch Jones vs Machida 2.

Jones got hurt? Or do you mean he wasn't willing to fight a fill in?

no ufc is a bummer. it doesnt paint jones in a good light though. dana made it seem like jone's camp didnt want him to fight machida as well. dana even said he would have another conference and it wouldnt be good for jones if he back out of the machida fight.

he wasnt willing to fight anyone other than henderson.

I'm a big Jones fan, but I have noticed him go from humble to a bit cocky and stubborn as his popularity increased. He's still young, so that happens (see football and basketball for loads of examples).

Honestly, I don't want to see a rematch with the dragon. I get tired of everyone fighting twice. If you get your ass kicked, you should have to wait a long ass time. I just don't think you should have to beat everyone twice as champ before they let you move on. Just my $.02

Jones said he didn't want to fight sonnen on eight days' notice. He probably doesn't want to fight Machida either for the reason you stated above.

Actually, I can understand not wanting to fight a different fighter with only 8 days left. He risks losing the belt, because he was training for a certain type of fighter and 8 days is not enough to make adjustments. I take back what I said about him getting an attitude biggrin.gif

Eight days notice isn't enough at that level of competition in my opinion. What a shame! I was looking forward to Jones vs Hendo. I feel sorry for the other guys on the card that got scrapped, but I agree that Bones should refuse to fight Sonnen...imo you don't deserve a 3rd title shot (especially in another weight class) after being finished in your last 2 title attempts... anyway wasn't he "leaving the ufc" if he lost to Silva again? Lol clinging on to whatever he can at this point.

No ufc 151 is a bummer, but it's better than having a replacement main event that does not hold a candle to Jones/Henderson.  With 8 days notice, I see no issue with Jones not being willing to accept a fight with another person when something like the belt is on the line.

was the belt on the line if chael fought jones? ive seen other fights where it was a fight for the belt yet a person got hurt and the replacement fighter was not fighting for the belt. i could be making this up but i faintly remember this happening.

in reality i never thought henderson was going to be a challenge to jones. i think chael would have been an equal opponent as henderson would have been.

^ Good point, I'm not sure.

But Henderson will be more entertaining. biggrin.gif
