Value wise: RE2 > iM390 > NE-7M > PL30

SQ wise: RE2 = NE-7M > PL30 = iM390

I thought the NE-7M and RE2 were the same price shipped?

RE2 is currently $39 by itself, or $49 with FiiO E5 (a $15 value). iM390 doesn't sound as good but it is cheaper ($31 @ Amazon) and comes with really good accessories and a life warranty. NE-7M is $49 that does have a good leather pouch but you will need to buy extra eartips (cause the original sucks). PL30 just doesn't have the same build quality as the rest, but it does have a good hardcase.

What if we add the IM-590 to that equasion? Value-wise, would it come out on top? As far as I am concerned it has best accessoires and probably highest build quality due to the metal body and great cable.

I have heard the demo unit of iM590 and I like its SQ. Assuming it has the same / better quality of build and accessories as iM390, I think it will be a very good value IEM. It is, however, more expensive ($60), so I am not sure whether I will rank it as the top (but definitely among the top).

As for the IM-590, the MSRP is $59.99. The street price should end up being less, though maybe not at first. I think the cable is overall very good, not great though. It does kink up a bit and makes some noise.

I find though that with UE single flange tips they sound their best. Better than the stock tips. With the UE tips and one notch more of treble they are as good as a PFE(with black filters). Not saying they sound similar though. Quite different but on that level of quality sound. They compete with the RE0 and CK10, though those need no EQ and are still better. Adding a notch of EQ to compete with the likes of PFE, RE0, and CK10 is still actually a compliment to them.

The 590's are a keeper.

Just picked up a pair of UE Metro.Fi 200v on Amazon for $25 shipped. Interested to hear them, since the Amazonians who bought them rate them 4 stars. I realize that Amazon reviews aren't great, but some of those posting sound pretty experienced, and compare them to higher priced phones. Would be a nice addition to your lineup, which is obviously tipped to the low budget scale.

I'll be reviewing Beta Brainwavz, ADDIEM and Maximo iM590 for the upcoming weeks. I haven't actually received any of them yet since they are all coming by regular snailmail. Hopefully by the end of next week I'll be able to finish one of the review, if they do come in a timely fashion.

great review! I just got the ne-7m and need good eartips. What non-foam one's work well? Thanks

The best quality single flange I can think of is Sony hybrid eartips (EP-EX10A), but they are quite expensive (~US$9).

thanks. but I was really looking into bi-flange. Any good bi-flange that fit?
