tk3 what amps have you tried with the L3000? I heard the most similiar AT to the A2000X is the L3000.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

You're quite wrong, That would be the W5000 probably.

Aside from the HA5000, THe amp i liked most with the W5000's is, surprisingly, the SPL Auditor. Doesn't seem to logical since it's regarded as bright and 'lean' amp but in truth it's just a neutral amp with a 'wide-open' feel and it paired really well with the speed and resolution of the W5K's while still maintain very good dynamics, Bass extention i felt was actually the better from my previous Stello HP100. which is a full-bodied and robust sounding amp.

I wonder if anyone has got a chance to try A2000X with Burson HA160 headamp?

HA5000 may be the amp to get but I will need a stepdown transformer which is kind of troublesome.

HA160 could drive LCD2 too.

Sorry, I haven't heard the AD2000X.

I just use the L3ks with my B22.

Unknown product.

Naturally that would be why I haven't heard it. ;)

I had a dream last night I listened to the A2000X with the Fostex HP-A3, it was the first time I had a dream involving an audio product.

Funny, it almost seems like I've heard the Fostex HP-A3 now, when I haven't, it took me by surprise and I was going to go to headfonia and post about it right away, at some point I woke up.

In reality, I don't think it will change my A2x a whole lot, but now my sub-conscious is playing tricks on me.

I just got my A2000X today, and I have to say that I'm enjoying it very much. It actually feels like a mix of my AD1000PRM and A900Ti. It has some of the clarity and separation of the AD1000PRM and some of the bass and balance of the A900Ti. That being said, the AD1000PRM is still superior in terms of clarity and separation, likewise for the A900Ti with bass. That being said, it is a very enjoyable set of cans!

I listened to the W5000, W1000X, LCD-2's, HD800, Beyerdynamic Tesla T5P, Ultrasone Edition 8 and the Ultrasone Edition 10 yesterday.

I could have listened to the K1000, Sennheiser Orpheus, Stax Lambda and Stax SR-407, Tesla T1, HE-500 and HE-6, but I was tired from staying up all night, so I came late in the afternoon, and when I was there I was mainly listening to IEM's and socializing......

Long story short... the A2000X is a really good headphone! I wasn't crazy! I thought this gear would put it in it's place, but it really is better than the W5000 and W1000X, is must be the best closed can Audio Technica.

Another positive news, I finally found an amplifier that sounds great with the A2000X, first I tried the Violectric V200, I didn't like it, it had the same issues as the other amps I've tried with the A2000X, it takes away some of the naturalism, adds some thickness and makes it sound off, even my sound-card sounds better than amps that do that which is a bit annoying.

So anyway, when I tried the Fostex HP-P1, what a killer amp! I thought it just took the good qualities of the A2000X and took them to the next level, I remember looking out the window thinking I could listen to that sound quality all day, it's pretty much the sound improvement I'd like to expect in the A2000X, so I'm happy my hunch was right about Fostex.

Now I either have to buy the HP-P1, or hopefully try the HP-A3 (or HP-A7!) first and see how they compare, since I'll never use the A2000X for portable use and that's what the HP-P1 is designed for...

The competitors to the A2000X which I heard were most definitely the Tesla T5p and the Ultrasone Edition 10.

I don't want to be harsh on the other ones, but to an A2000X lover they sound like fairly ordinary headphones.

Let us know what you think after 500 hours use with A2kX.  No, I'm not kidding.  =X

I wonder if it uses the same drivers as the AD2000s.

It's possible.  A2kX is much bassier with the cups off, but low bass becomes rolled-off.  Bass also loses a little control.  The treble becomes peaky and more energetic and aggressive.  Lower midrange comes slightly forward and the whole midrange becomes more aggressive.  I can imagine A2kX's drivers being used in an open design.

I modded my A1000X with the very same concept.  I but a spacer between the frame and cup to let the driver move a little more freely.  Improved bass and warmth without affecting the treble.
