Ultra-micro as pre-amp, recommendation for power amp

I have an Headroom DPS, ultra-micro amp, and ultra micro dac stack which I love, especially with my denon AH-D5000s. Perfect for working out of my home office.

I wanted to extend the stack with an ability to drive speakers. Questions:

1. Is using the ultra-micro amp as a pre-amp a good idea?
2. Since I've already blown my wad on this stack, the HR desktop stereo amp is a little outside my price range. Any recommendations what might be a viable alternative?

You bet, just make sure your crossfeed is turned off.

For an innexpensive amp go to eBay and get a vintage (70's) Pioneer, Marantz, Technics, Yamah, etc. If you get an unit in good shape and which has been in used you may not need to do anything to it, or at worse repalce some caps. Good luck.
