m50 is better than 702 in studio. m50 is a top studio monitor headphone.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Curious what makes you come to that conclusion. Have you compared the two side to side? I imagine the 702 would best the m50 in most areas.

For strictly monitoring, the M50 is better because of it's closed design, low cost, and good sound. The K702 will beat the M50 in detail without any effort.

The M-50 are good for $100 and with out amp, and that's it. As a close studio Monitor hps, I prefer the GMP 8.35, Ultrasone PL/Pro-650, and the K-271MKll, Stax 4070, Sony CD-3000. The M-50 are a little bassy for my needs.

For closed, you might also include the dt250, the sony 7509 and the cd900st.

Sure, the 7509 is more balanced compare to the M-50.

Always wanted to hear that one. I did once own the dt250 which was almost on a level with the 240DF but closed. Sorry if I'm derailing the OP too much but someone brought up the m50 which is a closed phone.

The DT-250 have the same treble and mids as the DF-240?

Wish I still had them to compare, but from memory I recall that the overall sound signature was very similar between the two...the timbre, frequency response, detail...but the dt250 has more bass and if I recall correctly, the DF has better highs, and sound stage. I'd only choose the Beyer if I needed closed...and I don't, which is why I sold it.

Maybe to some extent...$200 hps amp will do much batter. The other option will be a sound card with a good hps amp section.
