quick question -- has anyone tried hifi power cables on their computer to improve sound -- cleaner sound ??? most of those hifi cables seem to have the same three prongy things that go in a computers power supply ...

I burned a power cord in by hooking it up to my computer. I did not notice any improvements in any area, including sound. And, there shouldn't be much of any change due to the way computer power supplies work and sound cards take power from the motherboard.

I also tried a cord with my monitor for a short period of time. I didn't see any improvement there either, but I'm told that it is possible.

I think a real good power supply can do alot, I don't know about the cable? I use the pc power cooling units, because they are rock solid and have the line conditioners built in. In my thread I created I addressed that... Maybe we can get some answers?? : ]

I didn't get a change in sound quality, but I'm fairly certain the fan in the power supply is quieter... I've only tried some DIY sheilded cords though.

I think quieting the fans to lower the "noise floor" would have a greater effect.
