Head-Fi FAQ... Who Wants One? - Page 2

Minya, I think you seriously underestimate how many <18 year olds there are at Head-Fi. There's a reason why everyone here isn't at Audiogon, Headwize, AA, etc.

Portable audio--> cheaper, and tend to be trendier with the younger crowds. (example: iPod, headphones from Koss )

Yeah, Head-Fi rules for the young and the poor. By the way, you're about to become a 500+ member, cool!

It's not that I underestimate how many of them there are ... it's that the majority of them come from HardOCP and other such sites and I want them dead.

"lol kewlz u r into headphoesn ok can u ltell me teh cheapst (BUTT TEH BEST)HEADPHONE for PORTABAL USE>> I ONLY CA SPEND $10" etc.

I hate them.

Nothing screams "I'm a ****ing moron; please ignore me and, if possible, shoot me in the face" more than the malformed non-English that flows from the keyboards of these braindead teenagers. Admittedly, of course, there are some over-twenties who act the same way. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Unless you have cerebral palsy and you type with a stick affixed to a helmet. Then I can understand.

That's all, honestly.

As a whole, no, you're right, this is not a young forum. But the headphones sub-forum, which gets the most traffic (and which would be the main target of the FAQ) is filled with younger folk. And in general (there are all too few exceptions), younger folk tend to act like jackasses. They tend to type in the manner I've demonstrated above. And they tend to not do research before asking questions which have been asked before.

Of course, jackassery, idiocy, and skullbuggery are blind to age. Most people learn to grow out of it, but there's many who don't.

Good idea. I know it would have helped me when I first hit the site, especially regarding terminology, amp types, various headphones, etc.

In case anyone didn't catch that, I was wondering if anyone had considered using a Wiki to do the FAQ. It would solve most of the problems brought up in this thread, including updating, content generation, etc.
