Has anyone compared different 6F8G's yet?

Just wondering what the characteristics of different brands are.
I've only had a few minutes with my new rca tube (and adapter) but my first impression is very favorable.

In general I like the 6F8G a lot as a tube, and all of the ones I have sound good. But the Tung-Sol does sound best to me. The RCA and Sylvania were next, and very similar, followed by the National Union. But ALL were good.

I especially like the Ken Rad; maybe better than the TS. I have tried everything but the NU and I really like all of them.

I haven't been able to score any Ken-Rads yet

RCA, Sylvania, Hytron, IEC and Raytheon. So far IEC is my favorite.
IEC has flat plates like in RCA/GE 6sn7s.

And also no luck for finding KenRad, NU, TS .....

IEC was only a rebrander - I wonder who made the ones you have...

reply from tubestore:

Out of the couple dozen 6F8G tubes we have in stock, all are the same construction regardless of brand. I think they are all RCA produced and they are all what I would call flat-plate, much like common RCA 6SN7 tubes.

There is no doubt my Tung-Sols are Tung-Sol made, and they are round-plate, not flat. My RCA and Sylvania's are flat-plate, but I bet the Sylvanias are Sylvania-made.

IEC is clear glass flat plat.
The Sylvania I have is flat plate with grey glass.
Can't see the inside of RCA as it is all grey.
Reytheon has t-plate.
Hytron has round plate.
Waiting for TS now...

I ordered a sylvania, ken-rad, and tungsol this week. After I get them and have a chance to compare I'll post my impressions. As an aside, I expected that it would be easier to find these tubes. I sent probably a dozen emails to various sellers before I found the tubes I wanted. Now they just need to show up and work. I can forward the places I bought these tubes from if anyone is interested.

Love to know where you got the Tung-Sols. The only place I found was Buenos Aires Radio, and he's good to deal with, but it is Argentina - love to find a place in the USA...

I've had a few days with a sylvania and a few minutes with a ken-rad and I think they are both better than the rca. The sylvania has better clarity and 'punch.' Very enjoyable. The ken-rad (after literally just a few minutes) is similar to the sylvania but with more powerful bass. I'll update later tonight after more time with the ken-rad and first impressions of the tung-sol. Loving the 6f8g. Really brings out more excitement than I'd had with 6sn7.

I like the Sylvania too. I have one in a PPX3 SLAM with TS 5687s right now .... a very transparent combo with a nice openess and fast transients. The RCA works best with a brighter output tube like the Amperex 7119, IMO.

I've seen a couple of ebay auctions for 'radiocoin' 6f8g's that have gone for $40+. Anyone know anything about those tubes? Why are they so much more expensive than other brands?
Those Radiocoin's sure LOOK like they are Tung Sol black-glass round-plates...
