I think most people see this forum and just use it for quick information without any intent to actually "be" a member. If I had a penny for every time the same question was asked or someone raved about equipment they had never owned.

Yeah, locations are nice as well.

Do you mean that you only own two things period, or that you've built most of your stuff? Regardless, just list it however you see fit. I personally just like to be able to see people's profiles. I don't care how much or how little gear they have, I just find it interesting and informative to see all the different rigs, tastes, locations.

I've built most of my stuff. I'll fill out my profile with what I can think of makes sense.

In the appropriate category, "Headphone Inventory", "Headphone Amp Inventory", "Cable Inventory", ...

and it is also very helpful to list your current rig(s) in your signature.

I don't like to list rigs in signatures since it's mostly showing off. Though I could do it if it's actually helpful to people.

But I agree with keeping profiles up to date. Since there's so much fanboyism and immaturity here, it's important to have a perspective. Though that's going to be hard for people that haven't owned much but have heard just about everything on the market.

My sig links to my profile. If I added gear to my sig, and I've never put it there, it'd take my sig from large to irritating.

It's a fine line between large and irritating.

not as helpful as an "out of my mind" quote, but yes it's helpful.

I kind of feel that quote applies to all members here, kind of redundant

That being said my profile might be a little outdated now so I will update it.
