Sleek SA6 Cable Survey... - Page 2

I got my customs on Nov. 27th, used them daily since with the cable and with the wireless.. No problems at all and they sound great..

Perfect bass, IMO.. All the user reviews about the bass being low was worrying me but I love'em!

Again, recieved fantastic customer service eveytime I've dealt with Sleek Audio or Hifi-headphones.co.uk who handle all sleek repair/replacement in UK, however, yes, I've had cables break on 3 separate occasions. One, the jack end became faulty would cause the SA6 to alternate between conveying sound fully and then really quietly and neutered. Second cable hiccup was concerning the wire housing coming away at the Y-junction. 3rd and most recent cable failure was where sound stopped being relayed in the right channel. Still, Sleek are a new manufacturer of IEM's and I am understanding that they will encounter problems and hiccups along the way that they will need to learn from and use as platforms to grow and develop and hone their products. Their dedication to the evolution and refinement of their product(s) is a joy to behold. Kudos!

Sure enough, the left channel on my replacement cable completely gave out today.

So, thats two on the left channel for me as well.

I agree that Sleek has outstanding support, but the fact is my replacement cable died in the EXACT same way my original cable did after about a month of use. I do not abuse my gear. At this point the poll results show that about 40% of responding SA6 owners have had one or more cable failures while about 20% have had two or more. Good support can only do so much to make up for what is clearly a flaw in the product itself.

This is what I don't understand.... At this price point it should not be difficult to make a cable that is reliable. I beat the crap out of my Panasonic canalphones and have never had an issue with them. I baby the Sleeks and the cable fails anyway.

No cable problems that i know of apart from the fact it feels really cheap but the silver bit that goes over the top of the left earphone is loose and the treble tube is constantly loose and coming off and all that happened the day i got them.
Probably the worst quality ive ever seen for the price they charge.
Terrible!

I'm currently debating if I really want to continue to deal with this problem. Particularly now that Sleek is asking that I send the defective cable back to them first.

I am on my third cable, and I need a new one now. But to be fair, I was ignorant about the first one and wrapped it around my mp3 player. Then Jason sent me a couple new ones. This time I experimented to see about the wrapping around the mp3 player and it happened again, the coming loose at the Y-junction.

But my third one is different, the cable has pretty much formed to the curve of my ear. And I usually straighten it out before putting it on. The cable going to the right earpiece though has a tear in the rubber sleeve around the wires themselves. For now I have electrical tape over it and am waiting on a reply back from Jason about some new cables again.

At least now I know what I can and can't do with the Sleek cables, but I would still much prefer a sturdier cable. I am hoping my step dad will be able to help me make one myself. The hardest part though he said would be to make the jack that connects into the earpiece's themselves.

No cableproblems so far (I only own them for 2 weeks).
Strange thing happened, when I received them they were fine, after an hour on headphone sounded muffled and soft, no matter what I tried, nothing helped; switched ears, source, cable-sides, treble- and bassports, one earpiece gave almost no sound. The next day I was ready to return them, packed them in, decided to have one more try, and no problems at all!
I love the sound, the sound so much better then my Shure E4s, but the fragility makes me nervous.
Good thing the cable is replacable but I think the treble- and bassports are potential sources of trouble, and since I find all ports except for the flat(=) ones distorting, with hindsight I would have preferred them fixed.

I had the "made in USA" batch, the cover for the cable (plastic?) started to fall loose at the y-junction exposing the bare copper wires. I managed to shove it back into the hole, and it hasnt come loose yet. The other gripe i have with sleeks cables are the fact that they feel cheap and become very stiff.

I think they need to move onto higher quality materials for the cable such as the elasto-polymer ones Audio technica use for their canalphones and IEMs. They never stiffen up regardless of the weather.

Man, this is ridiculous. My second cable lasted me less than 2 months. I was about to order third one but at this point I'm thinking of just getting different headphones, since apparently the cable is just going to keep failing... Has anyone figured out replacement cable that is not made by them?

my cable is dying too~~ I used it for like.. 4-5months and now the left side and Y connector is slowing failing on me.
I used leather pouch but im going to use the original case from now.

gonna contact SA to see if i can get replacement without buying it from third party site.

Check your local J&R store first. I found replacement cable there for 15 bucks, which is cheaper than 25 that you have to pay SA online.

My 2nd SA6 cable died after one year of normal use (first one also died after a year).

I will contact Sleek and see if they can send me a replacement cable for free. None of my other earphone cables had this problem.

Update: So Sleek told me that I have to buy a new set of cable and their more durable cable is still not available. The Sleek replacement cable is $40 shipped to USA ($25+$15 shipping), which is guaranteed to break after a year (what they are selling now is the exact same poor cable I had). I gave up. I had Brian / Pingupenguins at BG Audio made me a higher quality cable, at a very reasonable price.
