I read reviews on this and I said let me try this out, for $10 I couldn't lose. This surpassed all of expectations for a $10 IEM.

Very nice amp for mid-fiers to entry high-fiers.
The sound quality and specs are very good for the price. Works very well with Jazz and Classical music in particular (not that rock and...
My pair was a supposed demo model from one of Hifiman's retailers. They came in mint condition, which is lucky for me. I'm not using a balanced cable yet, but I already feel it's a good upgrade...
I really don't know why so many people here are amp-focused instead of source-focused. A strong, clean source will make even a cheap amp sound good.

I picked up a Predator to use at my work station.
(There's no room for a full size amp)
I was skeptical at first.
My ED9's sounded great straight out of my Macbook, but the amp really does open it up and tame it down.
As some have said- the portable amp does not add much, but it's enough to notice and I prefer to listen with the amp.
