Wadia iTransport => Headphones

Hi,

Has anyone here got a Wadia iTransport?

I'd like one, but I'm a little unsure as to what else I need.

Just a headphone amplifier like the Graham Slee Novo.

Or can I use the DAC in a Corda Cantate from Meier Audio.

You can USE the iTransport directly into a headphone amp, but you will effectively be utilizing the line out of the iPod by doing so.

To gain the maximum benefit, you'll want a DAC with a coax in (which I assume the Corda Catate has) to pull the direct digital feed from the iTransport. I have one, and use it with my HeadRoom Desktop Balanced DAC all the time. It's a nice product.

Hope that helps....

The Cantate only has "1 pair of analog inputs." and "1 digital USB-input" so I guess that one's out.

The Corda Symphony has "1 coaxial digital S/PDIF and input 1 optical digital S/PDIF input" so it looks like I need one of those.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I just purchased it and have not received it yet. I'm interested in this thread. I will personally be using wav files from the ipod to the itransport then feeding it to my Benchmark DAC1 USB then to the Headamp GS-1....I'm betting this will be the cleanest reproduction. I love detail.

I use the iTransport with headroom balanced desktop amp and separate desktop power supply staright into the Coax socket on the nack of the amp using the supplied Coax cable from Wadia. My phones are Sennheiser HD650s and I am waiting for a balanced cable to arrive for the HD650s but it sounds pretty good using the normal headphone jack. Can't wait to hear what it is like when the balanced cable arrives and it is hooked up.
