hm my right earcanal is smaller, so always get a better seal in right than left. more sound i hear in right ear than left, and everything is behind me (unless i listed to binaural recordings)

HPA: I hope you are not joking, otherwise I am going to look like weirdo on the bus, not that I dont with my iPod and Amp setup already!

I'll see how it goes, it really bothers me that all my music is behind me, HPA, this crossfeed thing, which amps have it?
Yes, I am just joking back at you for the Westone 3 2.2 remark.

Except the crossfeed can help... I have it on my Headfive, Headroom Micro Amp, Headstage Lyrix, and Practical Devices XM5 that I am reviewing now. My Xin Super Macro III also had XinFeed.

I've read your various posts on the W3's. Your great comments influenced me to purchase them. I'm wondering if I missed your comments about how they sound with specific amps. I'm especially interested if you have any comments on how the W3's and the Pico play together...thanks...

just use rockbox; the crossfeed on rockbox is great. no need to buy another amp. crossfeed doesn't sound wicked with all music but used judiciously it sounds really good on anything that requires a feeling of space in the music. classical, jazz, live music, some ambient and electronica. havent tried it with pop, but could be ok if used sparingly

Feedmetrance,

I didn't get a chance to find/read your impressions.

How did you like the W3?

To start I have to tip my head down, chin against my chest with my eyes closed, and turn up my eyeballs to look up inside my closed eyelids to bring the sound up to my forehead which is then in front of me. Then I keep my eyes closed and slowly lift my head and concentrate on keeping the sonic image locked in place while my head moves into a normal position. It takes an IQ of 140 or higher to do it, but you might be able to get it to work anyway

this technique even Yoda (like in your avatar) would be proud of; use the force luke

I guess i'm lucky, even with IEM's the soundstage although smaller than fullsize cans, is convincingly left to right and extends just outside my head. taller and deeper rather than wider but still quite wide. these W3 have quite a deep soundstage but not so wide; that is to be expected with IEM's though

edit: actually I meant taller and wider and not so deep; doh

Excellent review!

I will do some research on the $8 express. Was it a machine label or hand written? How long it took?

Thanks!
