REVIEW: WESTONE 3, the ULTIMATE UNIVERSAL IEM vs everything else - AKA W3 Appreciation Thread - Page 41

was a joke!

anyway

the whole tips situation is pissing me off. i left work today with long comply's, and they sucked! no isolation, whereas in the morning they were great! makes me doubt the quality of comply!

i hav come home, and found some UE foam which I will give a go tomorrow. I might head back to olives, but the fact that they areally stay on, and might be an issue when I need to take them off!

My W3's are on there way.. hate that i choose the Free shipping option for them, unlike FeedMeTrance (i live in melbourne too and ordered before you).. and now i don't know when they will arrive
well.. i will get them sooner or later.. but the question i had in mind is:
should i order Shure Black Olives before listening to the included foam tips? or the Olives are clearly better then the included tips? (excluding "hard to take Olives off")
some feedback from people who have used both with W3's will help a lot.

note: i have small ear canals.. and i have used the medium black olives with SE 310's.(SE310 included foamies are black olives right?) before and found that when they absorb some moisture, they become hard to put on as it becomes difficult to compress them before putting them in.. (not talking about several months of use here)
Also, is there any special way to keep them dry so that they compress and expand like when they are "new"?
Looking forward to posting a small impression/review when they arrive

you can use your se310 olive tips with the westones. i agree with depressing them, they expand v quickly.

id like to know some care tips for them as well.

right know ety foam seems to be winning!

The long comply tips provided in the Westone 3's are somewhat. Defective. Compared to my other comply tips.

Great! I want to do a comparison to my TF10s, but I dont want to sopt listening to the W3's, but is it because I like them, or because I need to get my $646 worth of listening from them?

what the Ety foam sleeves are called? (product number to search on headphones.com.au) and how they are better than olives and westone foam sleeves? (better to put on and take off?)

ety foam: Etymotic: ER4-14F | Headphonic: Australian Headphone Specialists: Buy Etymotic, Alessandro, Audio Technica, Ultimate Ears, Talisman, Meier Audio and more

general soundstage question:

i think i am abnormal ,cause all songs, everything feels behind me. this applies to all earphones, liveires, tf10, sleek, w3, ety!

is this normal, are all songs supposed to be behind me, or do ppl perceive their soundstages.

got eric clapton unplugged, and clapton sounds like he is behind me to the right, and the girl is behind on the left,.

Just turn around!

Sorry. Totally unhelpful. I'm ashamed of myself.

MANY people hear sound behind them with headphones, and probably most hear it inside the head between the ears, but sometimes that can be helped by using an amp with crossfeed. Other times you can train your brain to move the image up front like I have.

To start I have to tip my head down, chin against my chest with my eyes closed, and turn up my eyeballs to look up inside my closed eyelids to bring the sound up to my forehead which is then in front of me. Then I keep my eyes closed and slowly lift my head and concentrate on keeping the sonic image locked in place while my head moves into a normal position. It takes an IQ of 140 or higher to do it, but you might be able to get it to work anyway

Hrm, Zeph, turnaround technology would be awesome!

HPA: I hope you are not joking, otherwise I am going to look like weirdo on the bus, not that I dont with my iPod and Amp setup already!

I'll see how it goes, it really bothers me that all my music is behind me, HPA, this crossfeed thing, which amps have it?

Corda Move, 2Move, and 3Move off the top of my head. I think the Practicaly Devices XM5 does also but I could be mistaken on that one.

Lol. Agreed.

I betcha no one has a weirder listening than I do. I hear things coming from the lower left corner in my left ear and the upper right corner in my right ear. Beat that. Hearing things from behind? Nothing special.

I think everyone has some abnormality in their hearing, even if it's just an incredibly slight one. I know my left ear can hear bass better than my right, which also can't hear details as easily as my left (it's like I'm ever-so-slightly congested all the time). I just try to ignore it.
