otherwise - as usual

unfortunately the dac b/tgain can not be changed or at least I couldn't find out how to do it (mine is bgain 50Hz/1.5 and tgain 0)

the other settings, including the spl are available and editable.

Just ashame we cannot adjust the B/Gain and T/Gain on the DAC settings.

You must go to the home menu (by holding the BACK button), turn on HOLD, and while holding the OPTION button, press the code. I just tried it on my S639F and it works. It's true that you can't change the BGAIN or TGAIN settings, though

what settings can you change?

not much, actually. it's mostly what it says it is - test mode. at least the volume limiter can be turned off.

First thing, thanks!!! I just got my S639 today. The volume limit is off, and it's too bad we can't change the T or B gain. Now, here's the but: it doesn't need any tweaking, as it sounds FANTASTIC!!!! The clarity is amazing, makes my A829 and D2 sound like nails on a chalk board!!!! And, this is w/only the DSEE(Sound Enhance) & Dynamic Normalizer on. The EQ is TOTALLY unnecessary. I see what all the commotion was about - this little player is #1!!!!

I thought this was off by default?

It is an amazing little unit, the volume limiter is off by default on the ones we bought from advance mp3 right? Or do we have to turn it off in the service menu? It sure doesn't sound like it's restricted, but I just want to be sure

It was off I believe, but you should check to be on the safe side (was half/asleep at the time). I'm just waiting to get a case so I can start to use it. I have the Silver model, and it has an orange border. I want it to stay nice, as all my DAP's are.

Does anyone of you think that there might be a way to change the bgain setting without modifying the firmware?
I have a nwz a729, entered the code, the unit restrarted, took off the hold switch and it went to the firmware boot menu.

I used the four way arrow pad, went to dac settings and hit play/pause. That opened up t-gain and b-gain settings.

Clicked on each respective one to change it. There's another thread on this. Suffice it to say it sounds much much cleaner now, took down treble gain.
