Ipod or not ? - Page 2

I've had "nightmares" with my 15gb 3rd generation iPod. The first one wasn't recognized by my computer. I sent it back to Apple and they replaced it with another one. This one works great. I just love it.

One note, don't get your iPod "personalized" (name engraved on it) unless you want to wait weeks on it and weeks on it's replacement, if needed. The engraved ones have to come from Tiawan. Otherwise, they will replace a defective unit with any in stock. It took a month to get my replacement unit back from Apple.

That, and it's much harder to sell a personalized one

Old thread , but ipod is still great and one of the best options out there in my opinion

not,  Ipod gives you less features than other players without any benefit of sound quality.  Ipod makes you go through itunes , it is not as convenient as being able to drag and drop your files .

Talk about necro posting.

Besides, you are NOT required to use iTunes with an iPod, so that a bogus argument. Media Monkey, WinAmp, J.River Media Jukebox, etc,...  Looks like more alternatives to iTunes that work perfectly well w/an iPod to me,...

Now, please stop quoting false info,...

get a used 5.5g iPod for about 100 bux or so.  Then spend another couplq hundred and send it to Redwine Audio to make it an iMod.  Then spend anothr coupla hundred for the ALO cabling for it.  Now youve got a sound system to rival the larger, shelf-type systems sold in big box stores.,  OR just gt the 5.5g iPod and enjoythe sound.  No need to spend more for the classic or newer units.

Guys,

I finally got a mint refurb gen 5.5. Need some good earbuds that don't break the bank. The ones I have are either too muddy or piercing highs with no low end! This ipod seems very sensitive to headphones and lacking a graphic EQ like the Sansas doesn't help!

First of all you got a very fine sounding DAP, in my opinion one of the best bang for buck DAP's if you can get these days. Now please do yourself a favor (if you have not done it yet) - rockbox it so you can play FLAC's. Never again bothered by iTune.

Personally I don't like EQ's aka digital manipulations, but that's just me and others may disagree. As for the IEM's, I recommend EX600/1000, IE80 based on my experiences only.

BTW, those are not earbuds they are in ears monitors (IEM's). The EX600/EX1000 by Sony and the IE80 by Sennheiser.

Rockboxing the ipod video is simple and only takes less than a minute. I hope you didn't try to do it manually. I downloaded the Rockbox Utility and it installed automatically like a charm.
