Oh well good to know its not just me. Unfortunately the new R2 of the Phonaks isn't out for a bit yet. Might hold onto these until I get a new set of PFEs.
Been using them with bass reducer EQ on - sound ok for brighter albums, make me cringe of darker records though.

Out of the box, these beat the UE Super.Fi 5 pros in everything except for the high end, and the bass is a little muddy. Burn in should fix this...we shall see in 100 hours. Excellent buy IMO, and apparently it only gets better from here!! The bass is brutal on these by the way haha, I nearly blew my eardrums out on the 1812 when the cannons kick in

UPDATE: After 15 hours, they sound about the same...I'm still disappointed how the bass is overwhelming the high end, and there is a "veiling". Great for $50, but still not as stellar as I expected. We'll see what the rest of the burn in does, but I'm not sure burn-in can bring upper end clarity to these. I might end up sticking with the RE0.

UPDATE 2: 30ish hours: EQ tweaks make these sound fantastic. the high end has great quality when brought up in the eq.

You can usually stop burn-in with these around 85-100 hours. I tell people to just run them for 4 days with music non-stop. The Shure E2c silicone tips really help the sound quality a lot too.

I'll look into buying the tips, but I'm currently using my superfi5 stock silicone tips because they create a great seal and are very comfortable. there are quite a few tips that I cant use due to my weird ear canals.

after reading lots of rave reviews about NE7M i purchased NE6

i listen only to trance. My 1st impression was NE6 sounded very boomy infact bass was even more than EP 630.But after 50,60 hours bass has been settled now i feel a bit more bass could have been better at flat EQ of ipod touch 2g (after getting used to EP 630)

overall they are better than EP 630 with better bass and good clarity but difference isnt that high.I mean EP 630 are so under rated here so i was expecting NE6 would be atleast twice better than EP 630.But i found NE6 are 25- 30 % better than EP 630.Details are same, there isnt any instrument i can hear with NE 6 but not with EP's

another thing is i cant feel the 3d sound.I mean i can feel left to right but not front to back. Why so?
also i found that small tips provide very good isolation. So do upgrading to better tips sat comply improve sound further?

Yes. Don't forget, the sound also depends on the quality of your source, amp and music files.

Plus I never expect a soundstage for IEMs. The NE7Ms have a decent one IMO, much better than the superfi5 pro.

i use 320 kbps mp3 and the source is ipod touch 2g
i feel i get decent isolation with default small silicon tips.Bass is also punchier. So is it possible to improve SQ further by upgrading tips ? I will need to pay over $ 30 for comply tips including shipping in India. So just want to know will it be worth considering i am already getting good seal

I wouldnt pay $30 for new tips to be honest.

The Shure E2c silicone tips will also noticeably improve the sound, and might be cheaper. And I have the NE-6 and NE-7M and they sound equally as good to me.

Sure. The more detailed, the better, of course.

my mic went out on me and I got a hold of Joey from Nuforce. He's sending me a new NE-7M and this one supposedly has a better mic button on it. I'll snap some pics and a mini-review when I get them.
