How's the isolation with the silicon tips as I plan to buy one of the Nuforces rather soon (can't decide, I got concerns about both >.<).
Would it be better with the Shure foamies?

Say (might be a silly question but) if I wanted a DT880-like sound, which one should I go for out of them?
The stock tips don't isolate as well as others, maybe 15 db. The Shure E2c tips isolate a lot, and the Complys foam tips just a little more than those.

Based on your own opinions and even from hearsay, is this true?
The only decent full size phones in this price range are Beyer DT-231 which need 200 hours burn in and don't isolate at all, and Grado SR-60 for $30 more which are a little peaky in the upper mids and less transparent sounding.

Is it possible to use the shure black olive foamies that I have left over from my e3c on the NE-7M?

The tips of the NE-7M and E2c fit a larger sound tube than the E3c.

I just got these in the mail and I can confirm that the foamies from the JVC Marshmallows fit the Nuforce NE-7m with minimal effort. It's an almost perfect fit, snug but hardly ill fitting, and you can find Marshmallows on sale on Ebay for 6 dollars these days. I may not even need to use the Comply T400's that are coming to me tomorrow. I'll post pictures as soon as I find the battery charger for my camera.

I've only listened to them for an hour after burning them in for 6 hours with pink noise at work after receiving them, but I can definitely say that these IEMs beat the Denon C700s I used to have, having more of a kick and keeping up better with fast music, and approach the bass level of the Atrio M5 but with superior clarity. They have a warm detailed sound that really makes me enjoy my music. I haven't listened to as many headphones as some of the other senior members, but I can already tell that these are the best headphones I've ever owned. I've listened to them on my Touch 2G, my backup 2gig Clip, and the USB DAC on my laptop and I absolutely love the SQ. I wish I had known about these before wasting my time on the Denons!

The only complaint I have is that the headphone jack is a tad stiff in terms of flex at the stress point, worrying me about a possible snap, and the cable separator at the Y point is unnecessarily large and wide. However, these are mild complaints, as the build quality is overall sturdier than I thought it would be, and I can see these little guys lasting me a long time. Well done, Nuforce!

If you can find these foamies on ebay, please post a link. I can't seem to find them. I have two new bags of T400s here, but would rather use cheaper foamies.

I've tried to find them before but to no avail. You actually have to buy a pair of the fx33/34 in order to get those foamies, and they run anywhere from 6-20 dollars on Ebay depending on who sells them.

Aha. Buying phones to get the sleeves. Wow, something I haven't done yet. I think I'll just use the Complys. In fact, I decided to give the 7s to our nephew as a Xmas gift (he's away right now), since I don't use them much. He will be very happy (I had also given him some Ksc75s with an E3 amp). So I will just include a bag of T400s with the 7s. I was gonna give him some PK3s, but I like them so much (owned them before and forgot how great they sound for $39 ear buds) I decided to part with the Nuforce phones instead. Anyway, thanks.

Just an FYI (and I don't know if this helps much from a pricing perspective): You can order spare Marshmallow foamies from the JVC Accessory Store. They only sell gray ones, but they offer pairs of the large and small foamies for the FX34 series for $4.78, and singles of the foamies for the original FX33 series for $2.42.

Sorry, I meant like in general

But what I really want answered is a comparison of the full sized HFI 780 or the AKG k271 vs IEMS like the NE-7m, or the ER-4p/s. These are the phones I'm thinking about for portable use and I dont really care if I look stupid in public. How do these phones compare? I mostly listen to female vocals, piano, and classical. I'm also willing to get an amp if needed.

And sorry for threadjacking.

owmygroin,

Why wouldn't you get both the full sized cans and a set of IEMs. Start off with the 7m and see how you like them. If you're considering the AKGs or the Ultrasones and a headphone amp, the $50 investment in the Nuforce IEMs could be too much of an issue. Based on all the positive feedback at $50 the Nuforces can't be a bad investment. If your satisfied with the sound of the 7m, great. If not then also invest in the full sized cans.

If you stick around Head-Fi for long you're going to want to buy more headphones anyway.

I'm looking for more of an end-all headphone that I'll be happy with because I dont have much money. If full sized are better, there is no reason for me to spend 50 extra on the ne-7m's that wont get much use. However, I am considering getting the ne-7m's because they seem to represent huge quality for the money and that is also a big consideration of mine.

Well I just ordered a pair of these to replace the denon 700's that were involved in a bizarre accident involving bed sheets and laundry detergent. The Denons were good, but i could never really get a good fit with the supplied tips and they always felt clunky. I wanted to order the Image x10, the comfort factor is huge for me, and the warm nature is right up my alley, but I broke my iPod while fixing it and ended up having to spend less on phones

I stopped by Nuforce today to exchange one of my NE-8s (unopened of course) for NE-7Ms. Just put them in now, and luckily my set came with foamies. Wow these are some nice earphones! Much better than the C551. But I won't post any comparisons until I get a better feel for these. And I'm for sure a basshead.

Still loving these NE-7M. Here's a link to some Pink Noise in FLAC format in case anybody wants to burn these in. I left these playing overnight and the sound has improved even moreso.
