Hello,
I am looking to recable a Denon D5000. I've looked for Jena and Cardas bulk cable but can't seem to find it. Anybody have any suggestions for a Good headphone cable for this project?

Thanx,
Les

Markl stated the Denon D5000 already has a great cable. I think it was Jena he believed was worth getting but don't pick me on that. You can find the Jena on the internet. Downside is you'll probably have to pay a lot for shipping when you're outside the USA.

I'm in the US, but I can't find Jena on the Internet. Other than their website. I don't know if they sell direct.

they sell it direct, email michael and he'll give you a quote for it; i think it's 6 dollars a foot. multiply by 4, and then the number of feet you need, and you've got the amount it costs, plus all the other stuff like sleeving and plugs and such.

Hi,
Just talked to someone with the jena cable. My question is should i use a common ground or not? 3 or 4 wires basically.

Now that's funny! You mean the Mark L who sells the $500 re-cable jobs on his website, right? I just figure if I'm gonna Shuck it like an Oyster to do the Mod, why not build a cable at the same time.

Is it that hard to re-cable?

4 wires is what you're looking for, and it's very easy to recable. very straightforward. I know jenalabs has the choice of 18 and 22 for the same price, but after doing a denon with 18, i'd go with 22 if I were to do it again.

Hi John,
Thanx for the info. I JUST discovered the DIY forum. I really posted this in the wrong place. Over there I get a Woody! I'm going to make some cables out of the Jena stuff just to see how it sounds.

Not worth recabling unless you want to go balanced. I've tried various cables with both D2000s and D5000s and didn't hear any difference.

Hi,
Thanx for that. I'm going to do the MarkL mods and figured I would do my Senns and the denons at the same time as a project. "Most" cable swaps are an exercise in Money wasting. Not all though.
