WESTONE 3 IMPRESSIONS AND APPRECIATION THREAD - Page 111

So after all this time of listening to the w3s directly from my iphone 4, I started listening to them using a fiio e7 with a ipod/iphone lod. After a few days of my ears getting adjusted to them I went back to using the iphone's hp out and it sounded thin and not as controlled. The details that I thought were amazing got even better, and now I find it hard not to use the e7. Didn't think that an external amp/dac would make much of a difference but I was pleasantly proven wrong.

Hi folks! My stupid question is, do the westies require any burn-in? I received them today, and I only heard them so far for little more than an hour. I'm wandering whether these will get even better, because it's hard to imagine they can. Coming from the TF-10, HD-600, IE-8, I got a meltdown like the Fukushima reactors. Is this real or am I dreaming? I would have never expected this level of performance from ANY universal IEM! I'll be damned...

I heard them smooth out and maybe open up slightly over the first 24 hours and that was all.

Thanks. What is the durability of the cable on these, in a year or two you have to throw away the whole gear because of cable failure? Unfortunately I assumed that the cable was replaceable on the W3 just like on any other high end IEM.

Unfortanately, you never really know.  I have owned and sold 3 pairs and babied them all (so I thought) but the last pair had a cable failure at the Y-split after only 3 months.  2 year warranty so no biggee but just try to be careful as they are expensive pieces of audio equipment.

Question ? ,   just received my Westone 3's and when plugged into the headphone jack of my 2007 iphone there is no sound. Other earphones work fine on the iphone. What's odd is the W3's work in my android phone and my computer. It appears the W3 headphone jack is unable to fit snugly in the iphone receptacle. Anyone heard of this problem with W3's and Apple MP3 players?

Received on Saturday and will contact Westone CS on monday just wondering if anyone had experienced this problem.

Thanks

The W4 uses a new and smaller plug and might fit.

Happy with W3!:)

They are different than W4, but very good iems:)

Listen to all genres from reggae to hardcore and feeling happy, even after Vsonic R07.

W3 not better, they are also different:)

W3 and Gr07 are my favorites at this time. had to keep one, kepth the GR-07's

I was having GR07 for a lot of months, and all of time wanted Westones.

Now i'm loving only 4 Iems: ER4P, W4, W3, GR07, other is trash:) (i'm kidding)

I'm a Dynamic Driver person, but the W3 is the only BA IEM I'm currently using. Lots of other BAs have come and gone, but can't seem to let go of the W3s.

I wasn't getting the answer I was looking for in the Mad Lust Envy aka Shin CZ's Guide To Headphone Gaming So I thought I would ask it here.

-----------------------------

I have a ps3, Oppo bdp93 bluray, and NAD t747 receiver.  I use ps3media server from my laptop for music, but I am also moving all my music and movies to a 2TB HDD in a thermaltake external enclosure that will connect to the oppo player via Esata.

I am looking into a wireless headset for gaming (with or without mic), and for music or movie watching without disturbing my partner.

I have a pair of westone 3's that I love and would like to know from someone with experience if they work well with the Astro mixamp 5.8.

I have looked into the ath-ad700 since many people have reviewed them for gaming (and the mic mods)and the beyerdynamic mmx300, but I really prefer IEM's.

Any 3 owners with a mixamp that can give me some advice?

I will probably use a clip on mic for gaming chat.

Just got a pair of W3 again. Have had the W4 for a few months and though I love them..I was so missing the fun factor of the W3. If only it were possible to have W4 mids with W3 fun! I was reading some of the recent posts on this thread as I re-subscribed and thought I would add a line since it's been quite a while since anyone has posted. Loving the big bass!! Someday I should get some impressions made since I can use them with either. Maybe after the new year..live far in the sticks, so not many places to go.

Also still loving my pair of W3 and thought I'd give them some love here. The fun and wow factor has kept me from selling as they remain one of my favourite pair of IEMs. Not to mention its great isolation - currently on a bus and all I hear is music at a reasonable volume ksc75smile.gif
