headphone cable self repair?

Thread Starter
i have a pair of 8 day old M-Audio IE 10s, today i was listening to them and i found out that the cable near the plug was starting to wearout, i live in canada so to buy a pair of replacement cables would be extremely pricey.

is there any way to DIY repair this?

I can help you replace it if you don't mind shipping it to me. Cost is zero.
There are some Canadian DIY-ers here though.
