As to the rest of them, I've only heard a few. The GES isn't recommended for the O2 outright, either, but my does it sound sweet.
Yes, and remember that the time we did our meet a week later I used the Pico as the source (DAC/preamp) instead of the Apogee mini DAC that plaidplatypus didn't like (made it too tubey). I think the GES and O2 basically sounds like what ever the source sounds like.

C'mon, Mark - what is the fun in having a Blue Hawaii if you can't blast it?
Oh, and we'll gather in Plano in January - hope you can make it down, as we'll have a bunch of new goodies.

The only amp I have ever listened to at 4 o'clock was a Raptor at a meet in Ft Worth - Ray was on the phone to 911, and it shook the grills off my hd600, but I lived to tell the tale.

There is another coming in the Gilmore stat family - a cousin, well, except the Gilmore stat amp family tree doesn't branch.

UPDATE ADDED TO THE FIRST POST - MISSING DIALOG ABOUT THE OTHER STATS

plaidplatypus: INSERT THOUGHTS ON MULTITUDE OF STATS =

UPDATE 11/24/08 - Your GES is the best amp that I've head for the Lambdas; definely better than SRM-007t, my previous top pick for the Lambdas. The SR-003 was a bit bassy for my taste, I prefered all of the other 'stats over the SR-003 but they were not bad. The Koss were a bit dull compared to the Lambdas on the GES. The O2mk2 was very nice sounding, I did not note it lacking compared to the original O2 [Mk1] setups I've heard in the past. The HE60 does what it does extremely well, I can't wait to hear it again.

The one thing I really want to drive home is that the Lambda sounded great with the GES. The GES with a Lambda-type earspeaker would be a much better choice for someone looking to start a high-end STAX rig than an O2 with a low-end STAX amp.

HeadphoneAddict: UDATE 11/24/08 response - As far as the SR-003 go, I've been calling them "baby O2" due to that dark nature, but they do sound more balanced on the SRM-1 Mk2 Pro that drops the bass a notch on all the stats. As for the Koss, I actually use them most on the SRD-7 Pro with Nuforce Icon in my bedroom with the Apogee mini-DAC as source, and they are a little more exciting. I was all ready to sell the ESP-950 to Sherwood after you and I had our meet, but then I went back to the other rig and fell in love with them again. And the GES is so good with the SR-Lambda (normal bias) that I went ahead and sold the SR-Lambda Signature since they are so similar. I can always pick on up later, or a LNS or one of the new models if I decide I need a pro-bias Lambda, but the SR-Lambda out of an SRD-7SB or SRD-X gives me a THIRD stat rig, in addition to the Nuforce/SRD-7 Pro and Woo GES.

I absolutely concur - the better option, if someone wanted new, would be te Koss 950, with a GES biased to 620v. Nothing can touch either of these for bang / buck outside DIY.

I forgot to mention that I liked the EF1. Compared to the headphone out of the DA10 it has less detail but made my A900LTD even easier to listen with. It took the A900LTD a step further away from studio 'phones and closer to just enjoying the music. I might look into getting one if I wasn't so focused on improving my STAX experience right now.

That's a tough one. It's definitely a Grado. Maybe similar to an AD2000 or a Stax SR-5NB?

I only just caught up with the updates here. The two times I've listened through the 007t I haven't liked it. This was with 404s and 007 MKIs respectively. It was interesting to see your comments on the Lavry DA-10 as well. I was surprised about the Pico's DAC -- that's going to tempt me to get one along with some Ultrasones for the times I'm travelling with my MacBook Pro.

The next meet and impressions is scheduled for 2/14/09, and I have added HE Audio Jade electrostatics, and bought subtle's O2 Mk1 Thursday but have no idea if they shipped yet. It will be interesting to compare the my Mk2 with the Mk1 that are coming this way. I also have a SRD-7 Mk2 SB coming, which is supposed to sound better than the SRD-7 Pro, but still don't have an outstanding amp to hook it up to (just a 5 watt/ch Travagans Red/Green, and a 12 watt/ch Nuforce Icon).

So, we'll get some impressions posted in a new thread - I thought this one was very helpful.

I'll bring the moscode. It is obscenely overpowered, sure, but no one can accuse it of not being amp enough to drive some E-Stats.

Does it have it's own volume control so we can tape it to hold at a lower than max setting and then use the Pico or Apogee as a preamp? That should protect the transformers or stats from being over-driven.

I call dibs on the SRD-7 Pro. I have some low wattage amps that might be a good choice for a transformer.

No, it's not an integrated, just a straight amplifier. I suppose we could put some resistors in series, but we'd probably do well to just start our sources off at 0 and go up. Or, of course, I could bring my preamp with it...

Want the speakers too?
