Personally, I would only be concerned with how they sound. If they are winners, and other people think they look ugly, then it's less chance they will be stolen.

Almost definitely a bass reflex design, which is really not propietary at all, even in headphones.

I can't decide whether I love or hate how they look. I think I like them but would be embarassed to be seen wearing them.

Also, are we sure that the estimated price is right? $1500 seems absurd to drop on a portable. They better be unbelievable.

Not a problem for me, considering I would only wear these at home, and my GF thinks my cans look dorky no matter what. Doesn't stop her from taking my hand me downs though.

Well I just noticed from here that ultrasones are horribly overpriced in japan and the suggested price in japan of the edition 9 is of 241500 yen which should be around 2490 $ so there is a chance that edition 8 will be cheaper than the suggested price of 150000 yen in japan too.

I'm still wondering why Edition 9 are much cheaper in the usa than in their own production country though.

The Edition 7 is more expensive than the Edition 9. So I think the Edition 8 price should be between this two.

Only Edition 7 is limited edition but not the Edition 8 or 9.

At a price of $150K Yen, I was hoping for a limited model but it's really expensive for a portable headphone.

By the way, the headphone jack is it for portable audio player ?
And is it manufacture in Germany ?
