Looks pretty nice...

...but $1299 nice?

It's a plastic closed headphone that lists at $200 less than the Ed8. It comes with a more appropriate travel case...

I had no idea those things existed.

Anyway, I'm very happy with my 1 month old Ed8 LE :)

For $1300, I prefer the Ed8. Can be found for $1,300 at amazon and cheaper at RMC audio.

The LE can be found for that cheap on Amazon?  Link?

Hi!

I was talking about Ed8 Ruthenium.

Ed8 Ruths can be found at $1,249 at amazon: http://amzn.com/B0026P4670

RMC Audio (autorized reseller) has Ruths for ~1,000.

I got my Ed8 LE for 1,300 from RMC Audio. Great service, great price, and great headphones :)

That's from Amazon proper, so it's a great deal as well. Not that there's anything wrong with RMC, it's just that some of the Amazon Marketplace sellers can be "troublesome".

Yeah... those are sold by amazon. Their 30 day return policy is a pleasure to deal with. For paranoic people, I think that's a very good deal on Ed8 Ruths. You can return them pain-free if you don't like them :)

I am calling RMC about LEs...

Hm, pads...

I wonder if you can "mod" the ED8 with some other types of pads?

What would fit?

just for fun!

So I just listed my Ruthies on eBay for funds for my pug dog's medical treatment... figured I'd do better there considering the deal RMC is giving out.

One thing I never mentioned, I originally purchased these on eBay about a half year ago and they were only the phones/bag - no box or other materials.  They were shipped from Monster Audio.  Wonder if these were R&D mules, perhaps they're trying to progressively move upmarket?

Have you heard about the new DacMagic Plus? It just came out and it's on sale at Richter Sounds for 350 pounds, not sure how much it's gonna cost in North America though.

Posting in this thread as a very likely purchaser of this fine pair of headphones. Thanks a lot to obazavil for the advice in the gaming thread. It will take me a while to get through all these posts. Crazy how many times I searched for a thread like this and couldn't find it (until I checked someone's profile)

Just quick note while I'm sitting here killing time in a hotel room, any new owners of these NEED to burn these headphones in for more than 1000 hours. As I've written before, transitioning from my well-worn Ruthenium to a brand new Palladium was a somewhat distressing experience as they sounded incredibly inferior. Now that my Palladium has endured its lengthy burn in period and countless hours of use I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Tonal representation is tight from top to bottom, imaging is spot-on, and the overall faithfulness to the original recording that I originally fell in love with is back in spades. Fantastic headphones that bring my rig to perfection.

EDIT: Oh, and I love that I can reach for these when I just need to give something a quick listen out of a headphone jack (laptop/phone) and still get great fidelity.
