Hey hey hey everyone, gotta reach that 350 post count!
Oh, if we are talking about custom iem manufacturers, maybe acs could come along too! It isnt THAT far from london to eindhoven (those manufacturers are of course for the april/may meet).
Greetings, Anouk,

Hey if there is already maybe one person coming from norway, maybe there are more direct flights to dusseldorf, eindhoven or schiphol, I have heard flights are pretty inexpensive nowadays, although we do have that stupid flight tax of course...
I think a saturday would be pretty good.

^ Yeah flights are quite inexpensive these days.
So if you plan this meeting well, especially if several major distributors/vendors show up, there will hopefully be more of us looking into taking the trip down/up/over.

With "goodies" I guess you mean the B22. It shipped out two days ago, and will hopefully be here sometime next week. Can't wait!

!!
That was indeed what I was referring to I think the project rocked and I hope you'll like it a great deal (if not, no problem, we should talk ) Too bad my paypal acount got fixed too late (no cc), I would have liked to participate.
Good luck with the waiting!

An international event sounds like even more fun. I hope Duggeh would be able to join as he followed our former meets with great interest and has some nice stuff!

If you think of America as just a country it's not quite international but people from different states are flying in to make it to that meet.
Flights may be inexpensive but flying from Europe to America is, unfortunately, a different story. Not many people (I actually can't recall any) made it because of that. I do plan on going some time, and actually wanted to go upcoming CanJam but a crazy year is lying in front of us so no time probably
You should check out their threads, those meets are pretty wild

Hello, Going to canjam would be totally cool, but like you I have not got time for that this year and it probbably would be quite expensive.
Regarding the nether;lands meet, i pmed all the 100+dutch/german/belgium members pointing them to this thread, so someone else can do the other contacting to members from other countries, lol.

I have a slightly modified Rega P3 that's gathering dust since this weekend. I plan on giving it away at the next meet to someone who wants to get into vinyl. I received it at the last meet from Dexter but have upgraded, so I only think it's cool to see it stay in the Head-Fi scene. There's no cartridge in it now, but I'll get something that works well with it before the meet.

Maybe we should start picking a date for the preparty?

Whoaaah! I had a Rega P2 until sometime last year and liked it a lot. Only sold it because I was to lazy to get up every "few" to turn the record

I just checked ebay because I like the look and style of your Denon TT and found a Denon DP-60L for 899 €...

apatN: I think I won't have the HD 650 at the time of the meet, I like them, but they are nothing too special. OTOH if I do not like the Stax 3030 set then I will sell the DV336SE, the Stax, keep the HD 650, get the K 702 and and Earmax Pro.

BTW. quite sure I will get the Keces 151 DAC.

The Rega tables are quite nice tables for the money! This one has an upgraded motor and glass platter, so is a very decent piece of kit. The tonearm could be better, but for someone getting into vinyl it'll be a lot of fun to play with I hope.

€899 for a DP 60L is too much, I didn't pay nearly as much for mine. I think they generally go for something around €500 (without cartridge), with the price going up or down depending on the state it's in and if it comes with both tonearms (it was sold with an S shaped arm and a straight arm) or not. It's a great table and to me worth as much as €899, but they are old units and just don't cost that much. Having both tonearms and a box will increase it's value though. The straigth arm alone will sell for around €150. It it's selling with both arms, box and a cartridge, €899 could be fair be I'd still say it's on the high side.

Vintage turntables are great value though. This thing outperforms my CD player at half the cost. And the albums are cheap too compared to CD's.

Eoe dmuh you have the darkvoice amp? I wonder if the earmax is what blackmore has now too...
I have been thinking of tubes lately, but I have heard a lot of mixed things about them, so I wont buy any tube amp before I have listened to them. Just too yount to have grown up with tubes, lol.
I did actually have a record player at primary school! I was intern at a school for the blind in Grave at that time and I did not have a cdplayer and computers were not yet widely available to us then, so we found an old record player and some rather dusty records, it was fun! I still remember its distinct sound.
I am totally digital now though...
As for a date, well maybe the beginning of januari when everyone still has a holiday... Just a suggestion though of course.

Greetings, Anouk,
Tubes are great! That is, untill one goes *pop* and kills everything else in the amp as a bonus. Which is sort of what happened to me a couple days ago. Waiting on parts to fix it, but I've found myself looking at solidstate amps too...

Beginning of January would work so long as it's after the 4th. I'm in New York from December 28th till the 3rd of January.

I am not sure, but I doubt that this is true for all tube amps.

Anouk: I really like the Darkvoice 336SE, but I had a normal Earmax three years ago and still think that together with the Senneheiser HD 580 souded really sweet and lush. I only sold it because it was a normal Earmax. If a used EMP would show up for a reasonable price (IIRC thy go for 550 Euro NEW) then I would go ahead and buy it.

I am certain we will have quite a few tube amps at the meet. I will either still have the Darkvoice 336SE together with the Stax 3030 or just the EMP

Make sure you visit Walkers. Very nice place, very good food and drinks and looking forward to eat there again next year

I hope you're right. But with tubes more things can and do go wrong than with a solidstate amp. Mine has worked flawlessly for more than a year, so I hope it's just a matter of sticking in a new tube and turning it on again. Was quite scary having the whole room illuminated blue from a single tube for a couple of seconds though.

A P3: that's a cool give-away! Have been looking at that TT a while ago although I am not sure if I ever will decently get into vinyl (long live the ease of digital). For anyone that does however, it's a real cool table AND certainly one of the prettier ones!

Rik, what happened to your speaker project? I haven't followed a thing as of late. Did it work out?!! It looked really awesome back then
Have fun in New York, you lucky one!!

A date...the beginning of january sounds fine so far. My brother has his birthday the 7th of January and I am not sure when he'll celebrate... Preferably a sunday for me. I am not one of the blessed ones with a holiday
