No they re-engineered it, they told me the power transformer was to close to the output transformers causing the hum (it wasn't a ground loop.)


I would like to see a Woo6SE vs Traufomatic shootout. They are similiar topologies. The Woo has against it that it uses TV tubes, the Traufomatic probably has a better OPT's (since that's their forte'), but the Woo6 has more power. So it would be an interesting comparison.

I wonder have anyone compare this with the Decware CSP-2. Both OTL and similar priced (at least with the old versioin).

"Also, as difference from usual OTL solutions..."

And it make sense if they are so good at making transformers. OPT should be their bread & butter. And I just read they have different taps for different impedance.

I am interested in opinions for the updated head one primarily. Apart from the sound how well it works as preamp (can´t have any buzz had it on my Heed Canamp). Seem to be an issue with the old version but is it truly fixed for the new version. And the sub out. What are the competitors in this price range for Europe. How strong is the signal compared to sub woofer outs of your receivers and such? The one on my yamaha receiver is really weak. If you raise the volume on the DAC do you at the same time increase the signal for the sub out?

 

Noone has ever heard the revised version? I would like to try tube sound another time. Haven´t found an amp that has all the features I want like this. Made in Europe is plus too. Dual inputs and both preout and sub out to my LFE. If it just had dual headphone jacks and the cd/aux switch on the front it would been perfect utilary wise for me. Just the features I need nothing more.

 

Limited tube rolling is a plus since I am not planning to participate much in that. I will play with my DEQ Equalizer instead if needed. I am hoping for softer and warmer sound compared to for example my goldpoint headphone Pro and Auditor.

 

I would really like to hear that the revised version doesn´t have the ground hum issue and that channel imbalance is more uncommon then common?

Of all the commercial amps this one caught my eye the most I'm surprised its not more popular.  I'm building a DIY version but with a SS Shunt regulator.

I think the trafomatic could probably be easy to modify for 5842/WE417 tubes which would open up the tube rolling.  Does it have AC or DC heaters?

Ask Trafomatic about the WLM name,  make sure it is the new version before buying it.
