JVC HA-RX900 modifications, a picture tutorial. (56k, forget about it...) - Page 11

Got my rx900's in this morning (didn't realize Amazon ships early morning...they came in at 8:15am).

I'm hoping someone may know of a pic tutorial of this mod or is perhaps willing to create one??

If not, maybe this weekend I'll blindly try my hand at it. I'll take some pictures/video of the mod just in case I'm successful with it and post it back here..heh

And also suggestions on where to get some Dynamat for cheap

I suggest you PM the OP if you want the pictures re-uploaded, much faster that way

Hi Mike,

Sorry about the bandwidth limitation. The pictures will be reactivated in a few days, on the 29th.

Thanks,
Chris
That was from TopPop

Does anyone know where you can buy a sheet of foam to stuff the earpads with? Went to Hobby Lobby looking for it with no luck. Unfortunately I don't have anything(to my knowledge) to get it from around the house.

I bought my acoustic foam from amazon for $10. I originally used it for my speakers, but had plenty left over, so I cut a couple squares of it for my mod.

Amazon.com: Acoustic Foam 2-1/2" 24" x 18" UL 94: Musical Instruments

I'll try and post a mod how-to video of it when I can. It was easier than I thought.

Sorry about the picture issues, everybody.

They're back up now, and this shouldn't happen again. I had a lot of uploads this last month, due to another DIY thread I was working on.

thanks for this, easy to do and freed up some Hz

perfect for office listening for myself and I wouldn't mid just throwing them in my laptop bag end of day.

Thanks again!

I'm curious how are the modded HA-RX900 isolation wise?(compared to RX700 pref) Both for letting in outside noise and letting your music out.

To do the felt mod, do i have to do till step 2?
Err...yeah that's what step 2 is all about
Unless if you don't have the acoustic lens, then you dont have anything to unscrew
post #163 of 195
would the felt mod reduce bass?
What does the acoustic lens do actually?

Im planning to remove the felt after 200 hrs of burn in (3 months possibly) but should i remove the acoustic lens as well?

Thanks

I'm not sure what the point of it is. I personally could not hear the difference in sound with it on or off, so I decided to leave it on.
