I haven't finished getting used to these yet so please check back in future for a full review and accurate scores. For now, let me tell a short tale... I hope you'll stick with me here and I...
I bought these puppies just before Christmas and they have been a revelation.
I can't tell you how much they suit my listening tastes. I love close listening with lots of treble and tight...
First of all let me say this is one of my favourite BA driver earphones I have ever heard.
That said, being a basshead, these didn't deliver in the bass department - I can't deny the fact...
I've had this card for quite a while now, and I have to say its a really nice card - a huge step-up to my on-board motherboard's audio.
At first I do have to admit, it didn't feel like the D1...
well yes... relatively that is... wife told me recently that she saw
a women's stocking in rodeo drive for $800... why do they need
such a thing? probably the same reason we would pay 600 for a
volume pot...
Congratulations on the acquisition of what must be a phenomenal amplifier. Expensive, yes. But I'd likely take it over virtually all other upper-crust, bespoke amps (which can easily reach double or triple the price). While it may have cost a pretty penny, as they say in the adverts:
WA5 stock - $2400
Upgrades - $1100
Tubes - $700
Alps pot. - $600
Yamamoto sockets - $450
WBT-0210 Cu RCA's - $250
Heaven in between your ears - priceless!

I guess your right. I'd take the $600 Pot over the $800 women's stocking any day of the week. Not that there's anything wrong with a guy wanting a woman's stocking LOL

That amp is awesome, no other word to describe it. I have been looking into a WA 5 for a while now, although I don't think that I am going to be able to afford the upgrades.
What brand are those speakers? I know I have seen them in ads before I just can't place them.

Its an amazing amp, was just wondering if the cables inside are all stock? nothing fancy schmancy? Is there any advantages to having silver cabling inside the amp?

The internal wiring was also a point in my mind, but Jack told me that they use silver wire as standard in the WA5-LE.
So there was no need to think about it.
Look forward to a comparison with your WA6 after the WA5 has stabilized.
Sorry, but i couldn“t do a A/B comparsion, because i have sold my WA6 to Tokyo!
But i will try to write some words to the soundsignature in my mind.
One thing i can tell you right now is, that the WA5-LE plays in another world
Perhaps Jack Woo has a few words for this comparsion... If he read the thread.
ahaha sorry bout the million questions. but now i'm seriously considering a maxed version of the wa6se similar to your build.. any specific reason why you chose the wbt copper posts instead of the silver ones?
