I'd still prefer recabled D2000s to either - there's way more space and detail in the highs. Just not enjoying the (imo) laid back house sound of any of these Denons that much, though. Especially not with their bass. Then I just end up with a lot of nothing. At least for the 5s and 7s

The good news for you is that my APS V2 D2000 that you heard, now with the woodies and stuffed cups added, still sounds like the D2000 you like - but with better midrange detail and presence, and all the slamming bass of the original. I think it is still better than the D7000 we compared them to, and I agree with you the D7000 are better than D5000.
