hey Lil' Knight,

just saw on your sig you have the Little Dot MKVI and was wondering how the ESW10's sounded with tube amp? I'm considering LD MKIII or even LD I+ as they are supposed to be for low impedance HPs. I've never used a tube amp before but sounds really interesting especially trying out new tubes for sound change.

I've heard the W11JPN's for a short time (about 20-30 minutes) and I don't think the ESW10JPN's is in the same league with them. The L3000 is always my dream phones, I'll definitely pull the trigger on them one day.
Anyway, of the portable phones I've ever heard, the ESW10JPN is by far my most favorite.
It's just to have a frame of reference to get an idea what it sounds like or how good it is.

LevA,

The MKVI is a balanced amp so I can't try the ESW10's with it.
I haven't thought of balacing the ESW10.

I see. is the MKIII ok to use with esw10s without any modification?
thanks for your help.

one last question, how do tube amps sound with classical and jazz music? would you consider tubes to be better than ss amps with this type of music in general?

I rarely listen to classical and jazz but my HD650's sounds awesome from the MKVI when I listen to some tracks of Diana Krall. I think tubes love jazz more than SS.

I find the ESW10 to be in a similar league compared to the W11JPN. They are the most similar in terms of sound signature of all my AT Woodies.

I'm really not sure about that cos I heard the W11JPN and the ESW10JPN on different sources, amps and music. But there are some points the W11JPN's beat the ESW10JPN's: soundstage and comfort.
