PA2V2 vs. Fiio E5?

Do you think the E5 will be at least on par with the PA2V2 in terms of SQ, or is the PA2V2 just THAT much better than a Fiio? I know the E5 isn't out yet, but there has to be someone that could at least speculate as to how it would compare.

i'm hoping the e5 will sit somewhere between the pa2v2 and the e3. like pa2v2 sq with e3-like qualities. if it does, i'm getting it for sure

sorry, i didn't answer your question lol

Nah, it's alright.

I'm hoping the E5 will surpass the PA2V2, of which I am not a huge fan.

when i listen the music with pa2v2 ,the sound will feel warm .

May be the amp don't suit my earphone (mx90vc) . i think my diyamp with ic 4410 is

better than pa2v2 with ic lm4881.

the pa2v2 is known to be a warm amp...

this thread is kinda old. i now have the e5 and can accurately compare it to the pa2v2.

the e5 isn't even close to the pa2v2. imo, there's almost no sound change with the e5. i don't really hear anymore detail, etc. it simply amplifies the sound with no coloration (which may be preferable to some people). i've read that the e5 doesn't even put out enough power to drive higher impedance phones though (maybe i misread)... so i don't really see the point. the pa2v2 does a better job all around imo. just my .02

The E5 drove my HD565 (150 ohms) to more than comfortable volumes. I know HeadphoneAddict drove HD600s (300 ohms) with it. He mentioned it wasn't preferable, but gets the job done in a pinch.

I have both these amps and the PA2v2 is much better - not even close imo.

I also have both of these and I disagree.

IMO, the e5 produces a "cleaner" sound. You don't realize how much the PA2v2 changes the sound until you change amps. Having said that, I'm not suggesting the PA2v2 is bad, far from it. For the price, it is very nice. But if you prefer a cleaner, more "open" sound, then the e5 is the choice.

Also, the e5 has "bass mode" which totally kicks ass with the Phonak PFE. Use the grey filters and turn the e5 bass mode on...heaven.

Thread from the dead!

I have both e5 and pa2v2. I'd say the pa2v2 is a way better amp. The e5 just amplifies, as others have said. The pa2v2 makes the sound more full. Though I've noticed it tends to boost the higher frequencies disproportionately to the bass.

The bass boost on the e5 sucks. It distorts the bass actually. I just use if for my blackberry since it has next to no bass. The pa2v2 has much better weighted bass thats also still clean and continuous.

Both amps have their place. The pa2v2 is a decent entry into the portable amp market imo. Though I can tell there is a lot that could be improved on it. But for now it synergizes insanely well with my sennheiser hd485 (not so well with my ie8 though).
