In keeping with this post, does anyone know if there are any PCDP's with optical out available at any of the big box stores (e.g., Best Buy, Circuit City [if still in business], Rat Shack)?

Funny, I was just about to ask if anyone had a CD player with a spare ANALOG out to use with my ß22. I'm currently without one (just moved).

^^ single ended?

I could bring my myryad z110 cd player. it is single-ended only but still a decent source. i'm only going to bring it if someone plans to use it though.

also, i'm short on ICs, so you would have to bring a pair to use with it.

Vince, BestBuy has a Philips Philips - DVD Player with HD Upconversion - DVP5990/37

It has Coaxial Out

We had 92 at one meet. I think it was spring 2007. There's only 71 on the gear list. Maybe it was the year before. At one point, between members, friends, parents, children, and even two grandparents, we figured we had about 98 actually attend.

Ok guys, I over comitted on the gear that I said I'd bring. So no beta22 and no Buffalo DAC, I don't want to spend all day just unpacking and packing gear. As it is I've got ~100lbs or so coming along for the ride.

there should be betas there, but there is only one Menace.

Albert, thanks! I totally forgot about using a DVD player. I think there are even smaller, cheaper ones around. Shouldn't matter a huge deal if I'm just using it as a transport right? I said HUGE deal...

Nah not at all. Those philips are actually VERY nice DVD players too and pretty cheap. If you had more time, you can order one from philips outlet store for like $30.

I was considering asking you to bring your cd player to use as a source for the LISA III, but if someone is completely source-less I have another alternative.

I'm contemplating what my final gear list is going to be. I guess the main question is whether or not I should bring my Stax SRM 1/MK II and Lambda Pros. I can loop the Valvecode out from Stax amp and run the LISA III from the analog out on my Sony SACDMod DVP NS755V. Or I can just leave the Stax stuff at home and just run straight from the Ack dAck to the Valvecode. The Valvecode might sound slightly better without the extra amp in the chain but I haven't been able to tell the difference.

To Stax or not to Stax, that is the question.
