Walking Directions from Harrison Train Station
Depending on weather the walk from the train station to the meet is fairly easy. The train tracks run parallel to Halstead Avenue. Upon exiting the train you should be facing a parking lot and beyond that Halstead Ave. It is a main street so it should be pretty obvious which way to go. Turn right on Halstead Avenue. Keep walking for .7 miles. The Knights of Columbus will be on your left at the corner of Halstead Avenue and West Street. Turn left on West Street as the entrance to the hall is on West Street.
From New York City via car:
Triboro Bridge to the Bruckner Expressway (I-278) East to I-95 North.
Take Exit 19, Playland Parkway bear right
Take first right (about 100 yards from end of exit ramp)
At stop sign, turn right.
At traffic light turn left onto Theodore Fremd/Halstead Ave.
Stay on Halstead Avenue for about 12 blocks/2 miles.
The building will be on your left at the traffic light, at the corner of Halstead Avenue and West Street. Right before the building you will see Harrison Beverage Center. Pick up a six pack of premium American craft beer or high quality import. Parking is available next to the building right after the beverage center. There is also street parking on West Street on the same side of the street as the venue. If you turn left onto West Street from Halstead Ave. you will need to turn around to be on the side of the street with parking. You can turn around by going through the Food City supermarket parking lot. There is a gas station across the street on the right hand side and there is a used car lot on the other side of West Street.
From Connecticut and points north:
Take 95 south to exit 19. Follow directions above.
If you Google directions and you are coming from NY City they will be correct but they will instruct you to exit at an earlier exit. It is shorter in terms of miles, but I believe the directions above are easier.
Ground Rules
*Donations are appreciated but not mandatory. Any money collected will first go towards paying for the meet with anything left over being donated to Head-Fi.
*Bringing gear is not mandatory (except that somebody has to bring gear or it will be a pretty boring meet).
*When handling other people's gear use the utmost caution and treat it as if it were your own. Do not swap out amps, sources, or cables without first asking permission from the owner.
*Food and beverage should not be consumed in the general proximity of any equipment. Any cheesecake brownies will have to be consumed at least 5 feet from any solid state amplifiers and 6 feet from any tube amps.
*Good hygiene is appreciated by your fellow attendees. Bathing and the proper use of deoderants and antiperspirants is highly recommended. Avoid wearing cologne or fragrances. Make sure to clean your ears.
Local Phine Quizzine
There are several eating establishments close by should you feel the need for nutrients. Food City supermarket is right across the street on the other side of West Street. They have a full deli counter as well as the usual grocery items.
There are also a couple of delis about 2 blocks away on Halstead Ave.
There is an Italian restaurant close by on Halstead and a bar and grill a little farther down. There is also a seafood restaurant that has been there for at least 50 years although it may be difficult to get in. If anyone is interested in an apres-meet dinner we may want to make a reservation at one of these phine astableshmints.
ATMs
There are no banks close by the venue. The closest bank is Chase near the train station at the corner of Halstead Ave and Harrison Ave. There is probably an ATM in the super market or the pharmacy next door but I do not know that for a fact. You'll want to plan ahead in terms of having cash on hand for donations or silent auction items.
Silent Auction
Anyone can contribute an item to the silent auction. It need not be expensive but it should be something that someone might actually want. Your old Motorola StarTAC or fourth grade gym shorts might not make good auction items but a decent CD or working DIY cable would. Proceeds from the silent auction, like donations, will go to cover meet expenses, with anything left over going to Head-Fi.
