Head-Direct RE1 treble mod - Page 3

I already tried treble mod on RE2, and the result is just like I predicted, overly harsh and bright. Personally I won't recommend treble mod on RE2.

I haven't tried putting less foam inside. The result of how much foam / what kind of foam varies depends on how you do the mod. you just have to experiment w/ yours to find to best combination.

Agreed. It's like a Grado SR325i, but even brighter. No wonder my head started aching.

Unmodded.

Wondering if I should mod my RE0. Little worried to do so.

I'm running them unamped. I feel the bass could be a bit better, as well as mids. Highs are perfect, a little bit harsh but I think it is going away with burn-in

So, then, why would you consider a mod designed to increase treble?

Well I thought it said it would also increase soundstage and the bass a bit, which I would really want.

Ah yeah I guess I don't wanna risk any harshness with the treble, so I'd better not do the mod

I did this mod on my RE2 nad yeah its a bit painful, gonna try reducing the moss.
Then again this is the first time one of my phones sound bright so I might keep them like that just to have a radically different sound sig (my main is a recabled hd25).
GOnna try cutting the lil foams in half and see if its a bit smoother.

Haha, I finally did this mod after owning the re-1s for 2 years and i heard things i never heard before.
I guess i'm a grado guy. I like this more.

Thanks to ClieOS for the tip, further refinement of this mod read here.

No the new version has the foam too, just less of it. I had to use a pair of precision tweezers to get them out.
