New cable for Grado SR-60

I got in a figth the other day (don´t worry, I won), but the violence intended on my head ruined my SR-60's. I've decided to keep the mangled corpse on a shelf while considering new options, like sending them home in Brooklyn to be fix, or getting new cans. I decided against the two because it would take too long.

Against my best judgement, I decided to get a set of cheap Radioshack buds in order to be able to somehow listen to some music without getting myself in trouble (did I mention that the figth was because an a**hole called me names because of the big cans?).

Well, after a few days listening to these buds, I've decided on the following: **** THE WORLD!!! My cans are bigger than yours!!! .

Now, I want to make my SR-60's meaner than ever. I am adding velour or leather earcups, a leather headband and a new cable with an angled plug.

That's what I need your help for. The original cable is too thick, can anyone recomend a thiner cable or even a good set of earbuds from which to harvest the cable? Preferably from RS, Sony or any other brand except Sennheiser (no problem with it, just hard to find in Mexico).

The other, more complicated alternative, could be getting the cable and the plug at RS, and I could use some recomendations on that too.

So please, give me a hand choosing the elements to make a monster headphone. Thanks.

Meier-Audio has a page with some headphone cord replacing tips. Skippy had an idea of braiding cat5 cable- that'd be cool, and it's cheap and easy to find.

Heh I just pictured someone with some gnarly Grados in a fight with a customized cord and plug. Some thug pulls out a switch blade, but Onix pulls out his grado cord from his PCDP and swings around a cord with a gold-plated blade on the end LOL.

Than I see Onix strangling a guy with a Grado cord hehe.

Thats the problem with Ety's...I'd be hit over the head before I ever knew it.

Uncanny! Wow! That's exactly how it happened. Where were you Tim?

Now that's so funny. Hey, anybody can recommend a plug from RS or shall I just pick any?I would love to use an angled one to avoid tension on the amp jack. What do you guys think?
