First time? Shave down your hair with an electric buzzer razor. Get in the shower. Wash your stubble with shampoo and conditioner, rinse. Apply plenty of shaving cream and use a safety razor to shave your head, rinsing under the shower. Use a new razor blade, else you may get razor burn. Watch out for moles or other imperfections...the razor can take them straight off and bleed a fair amount...and if it is your first time shaving your head, you may not even know you have them! Put some light lotion on your clean shaven head, the first time.

After the first time, you can just maintain the shaved head using a razor and shaving cream in the shower. Old razor = razor burn!

I use the Art of Shaving pre oil, cream and after shave. I shave in the shower. I have an Art of Shaving brush and handle for fusion blades. I tried a safety razor but it was more trouble than it was worth, imo.

Thanks for the tips. I've got 1 prominent mole I know of. I'll get a housemate to give me a look over in case there's one I don't know about.

I'm going to be putting facepaint on after I've shaved it all, might not mix well with the lotion. Might do the shave thursday and go over again on friday.

This is a very good idea, to give your head some time to heal. Inevitably you'll get some light cuts which you should treat or they will get a little crusty and...not very nice.

I've noticed the spots that some hairs escape notice are at the nape of the neck, and around the ears, but also at the temples.

Is it, we can request pics of this?

Hey Baines aren't you still a youngster? If so, if you need to use all that gear now, I'll pity you when you're 25.

For me, shaving is a pretty simple task. Soak face in shower to soften hair, Gillette shave gel, and a Schick Quattro Titanium with a new blade every time. 3 minutes later, presto.

Doug, I don't think the thursday/friday thing is a good idea. There will likely be some irritation on your head from the first go-round, and a shave only one day later will probably irritate the hell out of it. Trust me do it once, do it right.

Yep, sure am. I only shave a couple times a week, and the Feathers are far too sharp for my growth.

Basically I was tired of getting blade rash from cartridge razors, and someone suggested a DE razor. I went to two shaving forums trying to find a couple of cheap bits, and was offered some stuff by someone who had some bits he didnt like and wanted to get a newbie and youngster into it. I then won a newbie package on the other forum, and ended up with all that.

I just prefer a proper wet shave, i know it takes longer, and i will probably revert when i have to shave everyday, but its cheaper, better, and nicer. And none of it cost me a penny (wasn't even asked to pay the $40 (x2) shipping charges )

Now get no blade rash, and a more refreshing (lime is best) shave that lasts longer, that costs less (and is better for the environment).

It's good to see a young man like yourself enjoying the riches of luxurious shaving. When I first stated getting into wet shaving, shaving became less of a chore and more of something that I look forward to in the morning.

Wow...a new blade with each shave. Seems a little overkill, not mention expensive.

I don't like using a old double-edge safety razor with hand-whipped shaving cream because of the time involved. You have to shave really slowly with a double-edge safety razor to get a decently close shave.

That's why I use the Schick Xtreme3 shaver with a good shaving gel--I get a really close shave without wasting a lot of time.

i used to be into proper shaving but then i lost my mirror as i moved and just started to go for nice face creams and shaving in the shower. i feel ive lost some of my manhood but... it is not too bad.

i shower at night so i don't have to worry about razor burn so in the next day i get a shadow around lunch time.
