Does that make sense?

The dac sound very alike, but I feel that the V6 goes deeper and has more detail in the bass area, arround 40-50 hz, the midrange is more in front and the top is equal, maybe a little bit more forward.

My system isn`t of the expencive type about 3000 dollar in new price, so I think there is more in this dac than meet my eye.

If someone can tell me how to post pictures, I can do that.
Sounds almost like *improved* version of ECD1 for a mere 500 bucks. Intriguing, very intriguing.

According to a post at a norwegian forum, the V6 actually contains a circuitboard inprinted with ” Electrocompaniet 16-24 bit upsampler”.

If this is true (I haven't opened mine) the V6 and the ECD1 might be more similar than the price is indicating...

Wasn't someone who have heard the ECD1 supposed to give the V6 a listen? (cough, cough KrMathis) :-)

My plan was to buy one as soon as it became available at Elkjøp, post some impressions, then part with it.
But Abrahamsen have had some delivery problems it seems, and it still have not made it to the local stores. So I doubt I will go on.. Especially since other forum members already have one.

My ECD1 was sold last summer, so it would be hard to compared them.

So the DACs still aren't available outside Norway.

Accepting orders krmathis?

I had an offer out earlier this week for acting as a middle-man, but nobody jumped on it. No longer accepting orders -> /me to busy!

Oh damn! I missed that. Does anyone know if it can be converted from 220V to 110V?

Oh. I was playing with an idea of going all Abrahamsen (V2.0 integrated and V6.0 DAC) ordered through you. Just playing with the idea though. But I'll let you know if it gets more serious.

Patu,
maybe check with Gigantti (sp?) if they are able to do a special order for you? They are part of the same chain as Elkjöp after all.
I agree that Gigantti might be able to help Patu. Oddly all the Abrahamsen products have disappeared from their website, though. Only the Norwegian site has a full collection of the V Series products (no, not the DAC); the Swedish site has a partial collection, and the Danish site none, just like the Finnish site.

The Norwegian Elkjøp site only has the CD-player left in stock at the moment. I hope they're not discontinuing their relationship with Abrahamsen. I was planning on buying the DAC at cost price with a gift card at the local store so I could get it for somewhere around $300, but now it seems I might be SOL
post #133 of 201
Any update on this?
I see that the V6 is already available once again on the online store!

Would there be a Norwaygian that would be kind enough to buy me one and ship it to Portugal?

I would make a bank transfer of the money before purchase regarding the DAC cost + shipping + Commission for who would be willing to do me this favor!

Would there be any other way to get my hands on one of these?

Many thanks,

Cheers,

Tiff

Abrahamsen DAC

Hello everybody,
this is my first post on this forum. Since I'm not Headphone user I never felt the urge to join, but you guys have some great topics about DACs.
I intend to exchange my integrated amp for a DAC/Pre + Amp solution, though maybe it'll take a little longer.
Recently this Abrahamsen DAC has been making me very, very curious and unfortunately there is very little information on it in the web. I live in Brazil and getting one will be tough, but maybe it's doable. I would have to be absolutely sure that it would be a sure upgrade for my CA Dacmagic. Can anybody help me out? I've even called Norway, but NOBODY answers that phone listed as contact on Abrahamsen's site.
BTW, if anyone can help me out giving me interesting hints on a DAC/Pre I would be very grateful. At the moment I'm looking at the PS Audio PerfectWave DAC, but it's kind of steep for me at the moment. The Benchmark doesn't interest me.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards
André
