I've had mine for about 15 minutes, so it's a bit early to anything much yet. My very first impressions however is that the V6 is clearly better than the dac in my Cantate regarding detail, musicality and soundstage.

And, it's built like a tank, seriously this thing looks and feels like it could withstand anything but a nuclear attack!

One small concern though, is that windows recognizes it as a 16 bit sound device, so I guess I'll have to go buy myself a toslink cable to get the 24 upsampling, if not anyone here has any advice:-)

I did get my v6 a week ago. And it is a very good piece of equipent. I have the BDP-S5000ES Sony blueray player attached to it and amplified by an Electrocompaniet ECI-4 amp with B&W683. I compared the analog stereo out from the Blu-ray player with the balanced out from abrahamsen v6 and to my surprise the soundstage opend up quite a bit and the it sounded more natural. I really did not expect it to surpass the blu-ray player that much in quality. I bought it for 3300 NOK, ( about $500).

How does the v6 compare to the ECD1?

Also, the website is really lacking in information. Does it have any information about international shipping yet (in Norwegian)? I also notice that the store has a red X next to the DAC. Does that mean it's out of stock?

These guys could make a killing on this DAC if it sounds like the ECD-1, but they really seem intent on killing their distribution instead.

Nope, their site still says shipping in Norway only; I checked all their official retailers too, and none of them even carry the v6. The store says "expected in stock 13/03/09" so I guess it hasn't been updated in a while :\

I believe that the first production series of the DAC is already sold out. Many preordered it from them. ( me for instance ). But you must contact ECS Holding for information on new deliverances.

Have had this dac now for some time. And I`m getting more inpressed by this dac for everyday that goes by. I`ve had the possebillity to compare this V6 dac to ecd-1 dac.
The dac sound very alike, but I feel that the V6 goes deeper and has more detail in the bass area, arround 40-50 hz, the midrange is more in front and the top is equal, maybe a little bit more forward.

My system isn`t of the expencive type about 3000 dollar in new price, so I think there is more in this dac than meet my eye.

If someone can tell me how to post pictures, I can do that.
