No worries lee.  I've always trusted your judgement and I'm not about to question it now.

This is known to happen with brand new IE8s, for some reason. Mine did it too. Repeatedly twisting the plug in the jack and plugging it in and out (to clear off whatever's interrupting the signal) should relieve it.

There is an adhesive that Sennheiser puts on these brand new from the factory. I presume this is to keep the plug from deteriorating. To solve this just wipe it off good with a cloth or something. You'll have to put some elbow grease into it. That will solve the issue.

I had the same experience with my pair of IE8's I bought from headroom. Like others have already said, it's normal. My static noise from the plug went away just after a day or so. Just keep moving it around and it'll go away.

... Maybe with all the fake IE8's that have been going around, this is Sennheiser's way of letting people know they've bought the real thing. :D

Did you not read my post above lol? It is an adhesive Sennheiser purposely puts on the tips to protect them. Just wipe it off with a cloth or towel and be done with it. You can clearly see the residue on the cloth after wiping it clean...

Why is the price so high for these? It's $400 on Amazon!

And it was under $300 when it came out?

Anyone knows an authorized dealer that sells it for something more reasonable?

Razordogdeals has these for 359.00, and when you use the coupon code razordog20, you save 20%.

The out the door price is 287.20, and this is an authorized dealer.

You can haggle with razordog. Offer to pay him through paypal and not on ebay which will allow him to save money on ebay seller costs. This will allow for him to give you a better deal while making him more money. Good luck.

Thanks guys. $287 is much more manageable than $399 :)

You can email him and haggle him down on the IE80. He can give you a good deal. Got mine around $350.00. Try haggle him a bit lower than that.

Just listening to the first 'Rage Against The Machine' record in lossless format on my iPhone 4S with my IE8's. This album sounds amazing with these buds! There is no lack of high frequencies, and the lows are solid. My tastes run from Classical to Punk, and this album rocks from beginning to end.....  The IE8's let me feel like I'm in the studio.
