I'm still more tempted to wait for the Westone 3 since they (hopefully truly this time) will be released before the end of the year.
PeterDLai- Ha ha, good luck! I tried to resist them, but couldn't. I'm with you too on the Westone 3. I'll have to get them when they finally come out, and whichever wins out between the IE8 and the W3 will stay. The craziness never stops......

They HAVE to drop from $449, right? Time to see if the buying public is interested in my gear.

Must resist until price comes down.
If you'd have ordered today from Soundearphones today, you could have saved 15%. Thankfully I thought to check their sponsor thread before I ordered today. It cut about 60 off my total when all's said and done, including their free shipping. But I’m sure they’ll be running specials frequently like they normally do, so people should keep a watch out and try to get a little help on the steep price. Hopefully your wallet won’t get hit too hard if you decide to do it.

Even with Michael's generous discount (he offered me 10 percent), still too rich for my blood. Right now, enjoying the SA6s through the MiniboxE+ and a new LOD for the iPod Video (30GB) I inherited from my teenager. Yo-Yo Ma's Obligado Brazil never sounded better. I know the IE8s probably sound great, but for now, not on the menu. My laptop (four years old) died today, so ordered a new H-P Mini 1000 instead.

the question is, if the TF10 pro fit dosnt go for me, and i feel the bass is a bit thin, should i expect similar sound quality from the IE8 except with dynamic driver bass and good fit ?

easy answer here,

Yes.

That's it. Triple.fi purchase halted. Waiting for more impression for IE8. Hopefully price will drop more in US since i probably getting one from there. I like dynamic drivers more.

So, the IE8 = TF10 + more bass + more comfort?

Duncan: you need to PM soozieq and get together to do a IE7 vs. IE8 comparison.

The traits I like the most about the IE8s are the way that vocals / instruments hang in the air, and that (although, with this - YMMV) they like being driven hard... where, instead of falling apart how most IEMs do, they kick in all the more, delivering jaw dropping results
I like hearing that. That has been one of my biggest disappointments about a lot of the higher end earphones I've heard lately. Of the ones I've owned just the Atrios & Denons don't collapse when you want to rock pretty loud every once in a while. The IE8's are supposed to be here tomorrow afternoon according to tracking.... it'll be an eternity.

That's great cn11. Another soon-to-be owner of IE8. I'm eagerly waiting here, refreshing this very page every few minutes... T_T

Duncan, where are u?

toughnut...

I'm still here, I am content with the IE8, so am listening to them, rather than posting about them

What I want, is for someone with custom IEMs (UE10/11 etc etc) to compare with the IE8, see if they're in that league or not

As an odd note, people have been mentioning the prices in the EU... the IE8 are cheaper than either the TF10 or E530 in the UK

yep i was checking them out myself today considering a purchase, IE8 = £250 VS SHURE SE530 £329.

so good pricing on sennheisers behalf, but to be fair the technology being used is still the cheaper dynamic drivers right??
No doubt someone will favorably compare the IE8s with customs. For example, there are a few Head-Fiers who own UE10s who gave the Sleek SA6s a favorable comparison (it's in the thread). Eyeameye, for one. No doubt the IE8s sound great. (Just kidding, but it's also the latest iteration of Internet Explorer, IE8 beta.)

Anyway, I would love to get a pair for a listen, but frankly, I am weary of selling off phones to buy new ones, just plain toasted. Anyone else feel that way? I guess I like the SA6s and the X10s enough that I am paralyzed. I just can't do it one more time. Am I a Head-Fi burnout victim? Could be.

Now, if I can win a little extra cash at the poker table this week and next, who knows?

Does it really matter if the sound from the IE8 is preferred?
