I hope to get the IE8 one day.post #7773 of 790912/26/12 at 2:16pmHi all, I'm on a tight budget, I've been looking on eBay to get a pair of these but I am worried if they are genuine or not.
Could someone help please?
I was looking at these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230901918829
or
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sennheiser-IE8-Headphones-BNIB-/110993207998
or
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sennheiser-IE-8-headphones-Brand-new-/140900318600
and lastly

Many thanks!

Your chances of getting legitimate, real, Sennheiser made IE8's from the usual sellers on Ebay are slim unless they are an Authorized Sennheiser Dealer. Ask me how I learned this lesson....

You will have NO warranty when you purchase from non-Sennheiser Dealers since they cannot provide a legitimate receipt which is absolutely necessary should you need warranty service for any reason.
The only possible legit IE-8's on Ebay would be from a second owner who has the original receipt, but then you won't get any warranty service since the warranty is not transferable unless you can work out something with the seller (fat chance, but possible I suppose)
Summary: Your only recourse for real IE-8's is to buy from a Authorized Sennheiser Dealer.

It's funny, I checked out what the sellers have sold in the past, one of them has sold tons of "Sennheiser IE8 USED ONCE"....
Sadly, I believe that they are all fake.
Thanks for the reply! I'll wait a bit more and buy from amazon.

You wanna know why they sold tons used?

A: Because they were returned by people LIKE ME who 'discovered' they were FAKE!

I think depends on how much u take care of it.
And also whether u left it to burn in initially.
If the IE8 was to be faulty, it would likely be because of the amount of run-in the IE8 driver received.
Much like how long LED lighting can last before they degrade and die out eventually. but sonic drivers are pretty long lasting, especially one by sennheiser, ill give it 10 years.
Mine was burned-in for two weeks straight. I'm really happy that was using IE8 for so long :) Anyway i'm selling them.
Yesterday i purchased IE80 :)post #7779 of 790912/27/12 at 1:46am- Vladimir_F1

Quote:I got my pair for 310 :)
post #7780 of 790912/27/12 at 6:44amI've decided I'm going to get some IE80s now.
What are the main differences between them and the IE8s?
Where's the cheapest place to get them from? (UK)
EDIT: these will be my first pair of IEMs, would I be able to buy from Amazon, try them out to see if I can justify £210 for them and if I really don't believe they're worth the money I could send them back for a full refund? I barely use amazon so I wouldn't know.

I've never heard the IE8s, unfortunately, but I do own the IE80s.
I think one of the best places to buy them from, regardless of location, is amazon.de: http://www.amazon.de/Sennheiser-504771-IE-80-In-Ear-Kopfh%C3%B6rer/dp/B005N8W27I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356638834&sr=8-1
At 202 Euros, they're way cheaper than the MSRP. I bought mine from there, and was happy with them. They're original and guaranteed for 2 years under Sennheiser's warranty. I think unless you have fit issues, or don't like their bass, you will believe they are worth it ;). Good luck!

I think I'll do that, thanks :)

Nope, never returned mine (they're in my ears now
).I'm thinking that for dealing with Amazon.de customer service you might need a more than rudimentary understanding of German, or a good translator program. If I had to return, I would try emailing them in English and I'm sure they will get back to you likewise! Shipping costs will probably be greater to Germany. I know that's the case for me in Australia.
Although it's irrelevant to your question, I think the IE80 is a truly great IEM, I'm very satisfied with it having auditioned (only briefly, though) the SM3 v2, UM3X, SE535 and others in its price bracket at Jaben. I enjoy it very much across all genres. Something about the warmth, non-fatiguing highs and impactful bass makes me enjoy the music more, and this is all with the stock cable and no tape mod. Very versatile.
Anyways, I'd recommend you get some other tips. Find a good, comfortable silicon set from somewhere, and also foam tips for travelling if you need isolation, as I didn't much care for the stock tips with the IE80 (a few of them fit, but they're not really comfortable). Also, get yourself a case (I use an old hard-shell spectacle case) for them - the supplied one won't do for everyday use. These things aside, the IE80's great sound and comfort mean I won't be returning them anytime soon. Have fun with it!

Ah brilliant, thanks for your thoughts :)
How should one expect them to last? What are the details on the sennheiser warranty? (like what if I break them by accident?)
Other than that I'm very settled on these IEMs
