I haven't read the whole thread, but would you describe the sound of the IE8 as "natural"?

And is there a pic anywhere of what this looks like while in the ear?

I dont know how much isolate you guys want but my IE7 with just 18/30 volume, i cant feel anything even though i'm on the train at peak time in Melbourne. Btw, i dun think i need that much isolate because even with this, i hardly hear anything when people talk to me. And yea IE7 is hell comfortable

Well i had to use the bus yesterday evening and i took the ie8's with me and i could hear everything.
People talking,engine noise etc.
And i'm not turning it any louder as i dont want to go deaf.
I dont know where senn get off saying they have excellent isolation when they dont,and no matter how stunning they sound the trade off isn't enough and i won't ever be wasting my money on this company again.

so is the ie7 and ie8 isolation different? i am contemplating on getting either one, so the main differences would be the bass adjuster on the ie8?

the isolation is tip and fit dependent, considering the shape of both the super.fi housing and the IE8, the IE8 isolation could only be worst then the super.fi it if was open or had stractural leaks (the housing is broken),

either way, try other tips or get a differently shaped IEM, for me, the triple.fi 10 offer either isolation or comfort, but not both, and im sick of tossing money at it to see if i can find "just the right tips", hopfully, i will have better luck with tue IE8

Dont hold your breath though,i had SERIOUS trouble finding tips that fitted,nearly all the supplied ones didn't fit,even the large double flange keep coming out.

I sympathise with you because i'm sick of losing money too,especially when the product doesn't do what it's supposed to do.

hmm, have you ever try sony ex700 silicon tips? As i said in my post before, I have been using it since i got my IE7, It fits perfectly well and very very comfortable. With the senn stock tip, including the foam, I found it ok but fit not very well to my ears and I dont think i could use it for very long time compare to sony tips. You may try it to find out.

IE7 doesn't isolate much for me. It's isolation is close to V-moda Vibes (early version - considered open due to vent holes).

In comparison, Westone 3 and IM716 isolate much more in that, with music on, I do not notice when someone is talking in my back. With IE7, I can notice someone talking to me, although I have to take it out to hear what they are saying. I agree that IE7's fit kit isn't perfect. I ended up using silicon tips from a sony canalphone because they provided better comfort.

I had trouble using IE7 at the Gym because the Gym's music would constantly leak in. IE7 also sits less tightly on the canal so I felt like it might fall off while on treadmill. Westone 3 does a great job at the Gym. IM716 isolates too much that I get worried about my surroundings.

I personally prefer slightly open IEMs like IE7 because the music quality is fine and I can still interact with others at the office. When I used IM716 in the office, my coworkers would come to my cube and tap my shoulder to tell me that my phone's ringing

Think i have some of them somewhere.
Will definitely try em but i cannot see it helping isolation but i will give it a go before i completely give up on these.

Well, darn. I had been looking closely at both IE7 and IE8, but if they don't isolate, screw that. I need lots of isolation as my city commute is very noisy.

Back to the drawing board I suppose.

I figure that this link would be useful for some people.

Sennheiser IE8 parts list with article numbers. So now we can order extra accessories for the IE8 such as the ear pieces or the cables.

What is notable is that they have a shorter than stock headphone cable for sale. Stock is 1.2m while the other is 0.8m in length.
