After I sold my Atrio and CX95 I am only left with a pair of OK1 of which canal phone mode is not very impressive. I am torn in between IE8 and UE TF10. According to the posts up to now, IE8 seems to have a treble roll-off. I didn't like Atrio for its roll-off and bass heavy sound.
IE8 sound is similar to atrio in tonal curve???

I think the isolation depends largely on the tips. With the sony tips i'm using I think the isolation is OK, not super. Enough for me to enjoy the music on a noisy bus with a reasonable music volume. UE sf5pro feels better isolated (i'm using foam tips with it) but definitely not as comfortable :-)

There is no clear conclusion regarding SQ between TF10 and IE8. I know they have different signatures. But which is the more complete and neutral in its tonal curve?? Any thoughts?
I know the IE8 has better mids and perhaps Bass. But the treble roll worries me.
I should order both and return as I am in UK. But what about the packaging. Are they sealed?

vedye, I said the bass of Ex90 is deeper than IE8 ? I did mod my Ex90 which suppose to have more bass than the stock one and comparing to IE7, IE7 has much better quality and quantity than ex90. I think ur IE8 will get better in nothing after few hours burned in.
Anyways glad that you have ur IE8. I loved my IE7 now and I dont think i can go back with my Ex90 (which i have already given to my brother). You should try the sony ex700 tips. I think they work really well with senn

IE8 are extremely NOT neutral. They are very bass heavy (but not the deepest bass), and slightly recessed treble. Upper bass and lower mids are very present. Dark and muddy sound. Don't know about Triple.fi

Bass is worse in quality then ER4p, not as fast and clean. I'm sure triple.fi has better, but I cannot confirm that. Treble.. it depends on your ears, for me it is recessed.
How long have your IE8 burn in? My IE8 does not sounds like what you have described at all.

50 hours is not enough. Trust me, give them another 100-150 hours and you will notice a significant improvement.

My first post here in a year (!) My wallet was pretty flattened by previous purchases and I was happy with the headphones I already owned.

Anyway, I purchased IE8's, thanks partly to the nice discount offered by earphonesolutions.com. I like them a lot, save for some slight trouble getting used to the "earhooks" one uses to wear them. I find the bass/midrange superb, with the treble/detail just slightly less clear than the champions in this regard, ER-4's. They really aren't better than my Shure 500's, but the sound signature is a little different and that makes them appealing for some kinds of music. Overall, very clear sound, very high quality.

Anyway, I have a question: where can one get additional eartips for this model? I found the regular single soft tips available through B&H Photovideo, but I like the double-flange ones best and I can't find these. Sennheiser's website says nothing about additional tips and when I wrote an email to them I got back a nice noncommittal reply but then nada.

...you know, you was right, they are growing up. This evening suddenly (after about 80 hours) they transformed into something quite listenable. I'm absolutely sure about that. This is the first time I hear such dramatic change after burn- in. Bass came to a normal amount, still big, but I cannot complain anymore. But what is more important, hights came out finally. Fog in mids almost gone... The whole sound impression is different now... I really enjoy it.

They keep getting better over time...

Mine have... Oh, I dunno - must be 300ish hours on the clock, and - they sound quite neutral (VERY down the middle between the TF10 and E530, seeming to take the strengths from both)...

I have a couple of tracks where I wish that presentation could be better, but - hey, I cannot imagine that there will EVER be a perfect ear/headphone that will cater for all genres / mixing desks... (we can but hope!!)

Sennheiser should either burn them in on factory or inform the users, to wait for 100 hours before critical listening. Pretty stupid, they don't do it, I would never expect that kind of change, I didn't believe in burn-in effect, and planned to sell them. Soundstage is impressive now.

I don't know if I need westone 3 now...

That's weird, 'cause it seems to be happening to me too. And though i do believe in burn-in, but i had never thought the difference could be this big.

Actually I am still thinking maybe it's because I'm now more used to the wearing of the IE8. now it seals better without getting too deep? I don't know, but the dark feeling is going away and the stage is getting brighter and brighter.

the highs never bothered me though, as i've always used EQ to bright up the treble for IE8 and it works sweet
