I really do find it odd how you can get different quality out of ASIO4ALL... it should really sound the some no matter what 'bit perfect' software you are using.

But yeah with Ubuntu and Java... did you try uninstalling all the .deb based java stuff and just getting the Sun version installed manually? If that doesn't work, something must be wrong !

Let me know if you want a lend of this cable, when I bought this cable I was skeptical as to the difference it would make. I was shocked at first as to how different it was, there was no bass and it sounded shrill. I spoke to Drew at Moon Audio and he assured me they do indeed need at least 100 hrs break in. So now I had to believe in this whole break in thing... well after a week and a bit the cable settled down and the bass was back, along with all the other superlative jaggen talk so they rocked. I had to send them back to Moon
Audio for a very minor repair a month ago. Switching back to stock cable was also a shock, back came that bad ass bloat in the bass and muddled mids...
If you heard a difference with the blue dragon in meet conditions, then you need to have a listen. Just pm your detais, happy for you to have a listen but I'm not selling them as I will be using them with my Tune amp from time to time... whoops my train stop have to go.

I myself am shocked when I switch between Windows + ASIO and Ubuntu + ALSA. The differences are so clear to me somehow. Lots of detail is missing in Windows. Lol. I'll switch back to Ubuntu once Java gets fixed. And yeah, I uninstalled all the Java stuff then installed everything manually. Lol. Oh well, I'll try it again during the holidays or something.

I sold them a few weeks later. Most overrated headphones I've heard to date (though I guess it depends what you are after - I can see why they would be appealing to some).

Actually, whilst (sort of) on the subject of the last meet, I bought those headphones off pkjames. He was generous enough to send me his DIY iMod a while later to demo. Problem is, I have had it packed up ready to send back to him for 2 months, have sent him a few messages, but not heard anything back. Anyone know how I can get in touch, or get his iMod back to him?

Crazy Australian Dollar. Now the 9 CD's I want cost AUD$500. Madness.

Was that coming out of the iRiver via optical? Pretty sure it was lossless - I looked for something I knew to compare amps and found Diana Krall flacs...

I know what you mean. I had a friend once who had a shiny red RX-7 (not long after they came out with the updated version - 1990's?). He offered me a drive (as he did for quite a few people) one time we were up in the Snowy Mountains. You know those tiny overtaking stretches on mountain roads that you look at and laugh because they're only useful for motorbikes? You'd drop it down a gear, floor it and remember to steer around the car in front immediately because it had quite a kick - and you'd be back in your lane before the overtaking zone ended. And I can report that 180km/h on a gravel road is exhilarating but ultimately scary even if the road is straight and you can see everything for a couple of kilometres in every direction.

Despite further offers, I never drove that car again. Didn't want to fall victim to its charms...

Well, I've gone and bought a MS2i (in a black 325 body) from the FS forum. Thank you, Sydney meet, for making me spend so much more than I was intending to

I was going to go for the MS1, but I liked the 325i so much, and the modded SR80 at the meet wasn't what I was after. I convinced myself to go for a pair of 325i this morning, but I was too slow thinking about it and they had already gone.

I ended up getting these (not the FS post I got them from, but the same cans): http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f10/so...usings-347765/

They should be posted tomorrow and I'll have them in a week. I thought the MS2i may be a safer bet in terms of brightness, as a meet isn't the best place to judge how bright and fatiguing they might be. Hopefully they'll be great, and they look great too
